Megan Thee Stallion will end her Broadway run in Moulin Rouge! The Musical earlier than planned. She will conclude her milestone role as Zidler after a week that included a public split from Klay Thompson amid cheating accusations.
The Grammy-winning rapper announced that her last performance at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre will be on May 1. She began the role on March 24 and was originally set to continue until May 17.

“It’s been such an honor to be part of ‘Moulin Rouge,’” Megan said in a statement. She thanked the cast, crew, and fans who supported her during her time on Broadway.
This role made Megan the first female-identifying performer to play Harold Zidler in any production of the musical worldwide.
Broadway.com reported that a replacement for May 2 through May 17 will be announced, with Eric Anderson returning to the role on May 19.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical, based on the 2001 film, recently extended its Broadway run and is scheduled to close on August 30.
Megan’s early exit happened shortly after she spoke about the end of her relationship with Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson. Megan accused the NBA star of cheating and getting “cold feet” about being in a monogamous relationship with her.
Thompson has not publicly responded to the cheating allegations.
The breakup gained attention online after WNBA player Lexie Brown denied rumors linking her to an affair with Thompson. Brown stated on Instagram Stories that the rumors were false and that she had “no involvement in this situation,” according to Cosmopolitan.
Megan appeared emotional during a recent curtain call, and a fan-recorded video showed her in tears after a performance to which the crowd responded with cheers.
The rapper’s Broadway run had already included a brief health setback. People reported that she missed two performances after being hospitalized on March 31 and she later mentioned that she had been “pushing myself past my limits.”
Despite this, Megan described the theater experience positively, praising the hard work and stamina of Broadway performers. In her statement, she expressed newfound respect for the time and effort involved in the production.
Her casting drew significant attention when it was announced, both due to her music career and because Zidler has traditionally been played by men. The production embraced her star appeal during a time when Moulin Rouge! was preparing for its final months on Broadway.

Megan has not indicated whether the breakup, the emotional moment at curtain call, or her recent health scare directly led to the earlier final date. The production referred to the change as an early departure and did not provide a detailed reason.
Her final show is scheduled for Friday, May 1.
