‘Love the Photo With Granddad!’: Karoline Leavitt's Baby Shower Photo With 60-Year-Old Husband Sparks Age Gap Chatter

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt treated fans to pictures from her recent baby shower, which took place on March 22. Among other snaps, one image featured Leavitt posing with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, with whom she has a 32-year age gap.

On Wednesday, March 25, Leavitt, 28, who is expecting her second child with her husband Riccio, 60, took to Instagram and posted a slew of photos from her baby shower. She was seen wearing a pink floral maxi dress, while she let her hair down with a side parting.

The baby shower featured a pink-themed decor with brown teddy bears and pink, white and transparent balloons. There was also a huge pink sign in the backdrop that said "Sprinkle with Love" highlighted in gold accents. Another sign on a stand which said, "Welcome To Karoline's Baby Sprinkle.”

In the picture carousel, Leavitt was seen posing with her friends, family and guests. In one photo, she stood beside her mother, Erin Leavitt, who is five years younger than her husband. The very last picture of the carousel featured Leavitt with Riccio and their toddler, Niko, who was born in July 2024.

Leavitt shared the glimpses from the baby shower along with a caption thanking her friends for arranging the same. "My beautiful friends threw me a beautiful baby shower, and I couldn't be more grateful. I feel blessed to have so many strong and loving women in my life, and I can't believe we will welcome our little lady into the world in a few weeks. Thank you to the wonderful @ahanksphoto for capturing this lovely day," the White House Press Secretary wrote.

Netizens earlier assumed that Leavitt’s husband Riccio had skipped her baby shower, just like he did during her first pregnancy. She later explained to podcaster Megyn Kelly that Riccio is a private person and is not on social media. She also added that he is her biggest supporter and "number one fan."

On Wednesday, March 25, Leavitt’s rare picture with Riccio and their son on Instagram took fans and critics by surprise, with many pointing out about their notable age gap. "Isn't your husband like 40 years older than you?" one user questioned. Someone else said, "Love the last photo with granddad!" "When Dad was 30, Caroline was not born yet," a third person mentioned. "Dad will be on deathbed when kid graduates HS. I don't get it," stated another user.

Leavitt did not react to the comments.

According to The Mirror U.S., Leavitt’s baby shower was attended by several prominent figures, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Fox News host Rachel Campos Duffy and Cabinet Secretary Meghan Bauer. Executive assistant Kieghan Nangle, principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly and deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson also joined her.

Press assistants Micah Stopperich, Olivia Wales and Georgia O'Neill also attended the baby shower along with assistant press secretary Allison Schuster and regional press secretary Liz Huston.
