‘Like a Sales Rep’: Body Language Expert Breaks Down Lauren Sánchez Bezos' Met Gala Appearance

Dressed in a navy-blue Schiaparelli dress at the 2026 Met Gala, Lauren Sánchez Bezos' appearance has triggered a wave of reactions online.

According to a body language expert, she looked "like a sales rep speaking about her product."

Even though Sánchez Bezos and her husband, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, were honorary co-chairs of the New York City event, the latter opted not to attend the same.

Sánchez Bezos started preparations for her appearance at the dazzling garden-inspired carpet a month earlier, according to RadarOnline.

Picking Schiaparelli as her dress, the former journalist shared her excitement and said, "The theme is ‘Costume Art,’ and that’s exactly what Elsa Schiaparelli was doing 100 years ago. She wasn’t just decorating bodies — she was making art on bodies.”

Despite her preparations for the Met Gala, which involved her visiting the New York Fire Department to participate in their training to lose 2 pounds to fit into the dress, a body language expert has shared a scathing review of Sánchez Bezos' Met gala appearance.

Inbaal Honigman, a body language expert, in collaboration with Casino.org/us, told OK! Magazine that the 56-year-old appeared "awkward" in front of the camera flashes, adding, "Lauren’s posture is that of the businesswoman. It is straight, direct and no-nonsense. She’s facing her interviewer with her full body, shoulders square and strong, head nodding periodically."

Many internet users also reacted to her dress and called it "tacky" and "boring".

On the other hand, during a conversation with Covers, body language expert Darren Stanton stressed that Sánchez Bezos showed no signs of lack of self-esteem despite attending the mega event without her billionaire husband.

He added that Sánchez Bezos "wants to be seen as powerful" and likened her to First Lady Melania Trump.

Stanton said, "Lauren is very much like Melania Trump in many ways, and she isn’t showing any gushing emotions in public situations. When talking to celebrities like Nicole Kidman, she’s very poised, and there are no signs of a lack of self-esteem. She knows that she holds a high status, and the dress indicates no nonsense; she doesn’t need her husband, Jeff, to feel confident about herself."

He further stressed, "Lauren wants to know how she wants to be perceived. She wants to be seen as powerful with her own brain, rather than Jeff’s other half. She wants to be taken seriously."

According to Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, former royal Meghan Markle had once called Sánchez Bezos "loud, thirsty, and painfully performative."

Markle never took Sánchez Bezos seriously and had also declined to acknowledge the latter as anything beyond Bezos' trophy companion, Shuter stated, adding, "She smiled to her face, then tore her apart behind her back. Lauren was never someone Meghan took seriously."
