At one of the most glamorous nights in fashion, Lauren Sánchez Bezos has once again triggered a wave of reactions online after her dance at the 2026 Met Gala.

Dressed in a navy-blue Schiaparelli dress, the philanthropist has been ruthlessly ridiculed for her 'cringe-worthy' dancing on the 2026 Met Gala red carpet. When the former journalist stepped onto the carpet, she was welcomed by a performance featuring actor and singer Joshua Henry. Henry, who was joined by a choir of 12, performed on the popular song I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston, per the Irish Star.

However, her dance moves became a talking point when she started dancing along with Joshua. Many users criticized her dance moves as “awkward”.

According to Daily Mail, Sánchez was standing near Babygirl actress Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour and was moving her hips rhythmically to the music. She kept her arms uncomfortably at her sides while she swayed, and then lifted them to clap to the rhythm, immersed in the music.

Her dance moves and mannerisms prompted many social media users to react, who called her actions 'awkward' and 'embarrassing.' One user wrote, "This is BEYOND CRINGE. Met Gala has officially jumped the shark". Another said, "This is so f---ing embarrassing". One more stressed, "This is embarrassing", and "Cringe", read a fourth comment.

Lauren Sanchez Did Fire Training To Lose 2 Pounds For Met Gala

To attend the prestigious fashion event, Lauren revealed that she had to quickly lose 2 pounds. While speaking to Vogue, Sánchez revealed how she got ready for the event in an unusual manner. She shared that she visited the New York Fire Department and participated in their training.

Jeff Bezos' wife revealed that she wore heavy firefighter equipment while crawling a smoke-filled obstacle course and rehearsed essential emergency techniques in order to lose weight. She said, "It’s probably the most unique Met prep ever. It was bananas, but I loved it. I probably lost about two pounds doing it."

Additionally, Lauren's Met Gala 2026 wasn't met with positive response as users called it 'tacky' and 'boring'. One user on X said that Lauren looked like a "plus one" attending a "distant cousin's wedding." Another user compared her gown to a "bridesmaid dress."

"She looks expensive… but not chic," wrote another netizen. One more stressed, "She puts the tack in tacky."

The Met Gala 2026 has also gained widespread criticism after social media posts suggested that many prominent celebrities skipped because of Jeff Bezos' alleged involvement in the event. As per OK Magazine, Lauren and Jeff Bezos reportedly paid at least $10 million to co-host the evening. Jeff Bezos acted as a principal sponsor and honorary co-chair alongside Sánchez. His participation included funding donations and secured him a notable role at the prominent charity event.
