On May 6, 2023, Perry drew attention before the coronation even started after appearing visibly confused. There, the singer appeared confused while searching for her seat in Westminster Abbey. At the coronation, she wore a striking lilac gown paired with a big, fancy hat and opera gloves, causing her to truly stand out among the crowd.

Her oversized hat drew complaints from those seated behind her who found their view obstructed. She also performed at the coronation concert at Windsor Castle after the ceremony.

According to reports, Perry appeared puzzled while navigating Westminster Abbey in London, trying to find her seat for King Charles III’s coronation. Clips of the confusion spread rapidly on X, formerly Twitter, generating widespread mockery.

The seating mix-up was not the only awkward moment of the day for Perry. She nearly stumbled on the pavement. TheSH singer was seen regaining her balance after appearing to stumble outside Westminster Abbey. Perry regained her footing quickly and continued walking out of Westminster Abbey.

Perry attended the coronation with British Vogue editor Edward Enninful. The duo was directed indoors to take their seats. Katy appeared perplexed while trying to locate her seat in footage shared from the event, according to Page Six. She walked through several aisles before eventually identifying her designated section.

The coronation drew senior royals including Prince William and Princess Catherine, as well as several notable public figures including Lionel Richie, Emma Thompson, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden were all seen inside the Abbey.

The footage of Katy looking confused while searching for her seat prompted funny reactions for users on Twitter. One said, "Katy Perry looking for her seat at the Coronation of King Charles III will always send me". Another quipped, “me as a kid going aisle to aisle after getting lost in the grocery store 😭". One more wrote, “This is a new reaction vid if I’ve ever seen one 😭." “The way she’s trying to look for her seat with that hat, it’s adorable and funny at the same time,” said another.

Katy, too, reacted to the ongoing memes and wrote on X, “don’t worry guys i found my seat." During her appearance on Entertainment Tonight the same month, she was questioned about the video that had blown up on social media.

She glanced at the camera with an expressionless face and said, "Well, I just want everybody to know, thank you so much for your concern. I found my seat. You see, the memes are memeing, and I enjoy it. When you gaze in one direction for fifteen seconds, suddenly the internet dominates."
