Karoline Leavitt put her foot in her mouth as she recently claimed that President Donald is one of the most “well-read” persons she knows. Trump is not known for reading extensively, and he would rather watch hours of television news every day for all the information. Meanwhile, a recent report revealed growing concerns within the White House, especially from the chief of staff Susie Wiles, about the information reaching the President.

According to Atlanta Black Star, Karoline Leavitt recently spoke with Turning Point USA chairwoman and CEO Erika Kirk at George Washington University in Washington. The conversation was a part of the organization’s spring tour, where she revealed that the best piece of advice she has ever received was “to try to be the most well-read person in every room.”

As expected, she then made a flattering mention of President Donald Trump, stating, “I try to be every day, but Donald Trump always is. That man does not miss a story. Let me tell you. He’s always reading the papers and watching the TV.”

Leavitt clearly seemed to have mistaken “well-read” with “media-literate.” She then claimed that the POTUS keeps track of everything anyone says in the world, further expressing her surprise over how he manages to do it all. This wasn’t all, as she then addressed the students and encouraged them to be aware of the happenings around them. She acknowledged that while they’re still students and enjoying their lives, it is important to check multiple sources before forming an opinion about something.

In her words, “You can’t consume every piece of news, but before you get really hot and bothered about something, or maybe angry or even really encouraged by something, check other sources and then use your best judgment to sort of balance what the truth is. And unfortunately, that’s just the way it has to be done.”

While the internet had its own thoughts and views on Leavitt’s remarks, according to Time, the chief of staff, Susie Wiles, has expressed her concerns about what information is actually reaching the President.

An obvious question that comes to everyone’s mind is, if Trump consumes all the news, then why would aides need to present him with an overly “rosy” version of events at all? The two White House sources shared with the publication that Wiles was worried that aides were presenting the President with an overly positive picture of how the war was being viewed at home, telling him what he wanted to hear rather than what he needed to know. The officials stated that she encouraged them to be “more forthright with the boss” about the political and economic risks involved.

Noticeably, following Leavitt’s remarks, California Governor Gavin Newsom seized the opportunity to take a jibe at the 79-year-old President. In a post on X, Newsom sarcastically wrote, “DONALD TRUMP IS THE MOST WELL-READ PERSON IN THE ROOM? WHO ELSE IS IN THAT ROOM? TWO ROCKS, A JELLY DONUT, AND LEAVITT?”

On various occasions, Leavitt’s over-the-top flattery remarks about Trump have drawn attention online.
