Justin Timberlake Fears His ‘Mortifying’ DWI Arrest Footage Could ‘Overshadow Decades of Work’

A bodycam video of Justin Timberlake's 2024 arrest has resurfaced on the internet.

Turns out, the police footage from his drunk-driving arrest, which was released as part of a legal settlement, has gone viral, drawing fresh scrutiny for the singer.

Sources say that while the incident was humiliating for the singer, the video's reappearance has been even more difficult for him to deal with.

They added that it's “mortifying” and damaging to Timberlake’s image, now that the video has renewed conversations and focus on his past behavior nearly two years later.

The bodycam video shows an intoxicated Timberlake handcuffed and being processed by the police.

It also shows him attempting to identify himself by his name.

Sources familiar with the situation spoke with OK! Magazine regarding the same and said that the singer had long feared this exact outcome.

“Justin was under no illusions about what would happen if that footage ever saw the light of day,” the source mentioned.

“He knew it would spread like wildfire online, be dissected frame by frame, and inevitably turned into a punchline and series of humiliating memes. That's exactly why he pushed so aggressively behind the scenes to keep it under wraps for as long as possible,” the source added.

The insider further stated, “So to now see it out there, circulating globally and sparking ridicule, has hit him incredibly hard. He finds the whole thing deeply embarrassing, mortifying and emotionally crushing, and there's a real sense of helplessness that he couldn't ultimately prevent it.”

The source added that Timberlake has been deeply affected by the fallout as he worries about the lasting impact of the same on his life and career.

“He's genuinely concerned that this moment – more than any of his achievements – could end up being what sticks in people's minds when they think of him," the insider added.

According to the insider, Timberlake is reportedly struggling with this situation, and it has started affecting both his mindset and personal life.

The insider told the media outlet that “there's a fear it overshadows decades of work and becomes the clip that follows him around indefinitely.”

The source further noted, “At the same time, Justin keeps circling back to the belief that he was treated more harshly because of who he is, arguing that his celebrity status made him an easy target.”

The insider added that while the singer believes his fame made him susceptible, the irony is that the officers initially did not recognize him.

Meanwhile, the situation is also said to be putting pressure on his relationship with Jessica Biel.
