'Just Get Rid of It': How a 'Tiny Spot' Led to Kris Jenner’s 22-Minute Hysterectomy
Kris Jenner has never shied away from speaking openly about her health and cosmetic procedures.
From discussing her $100,000 facelift to documenting personal medical decisions, the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch has often chosen transparency.
In a recent appearance on Dear Media’s SHE MD podcast, Jenner opened up about the health scare that led to her hysterectomy, revealing doctors discovered a “tiny spot” on her ovaries that continued to grow over time.
Jenner previously revealed that she underwent a hysterectomy after doctors discovered a “tiny spot” on her ovary that continued to grow.
During a 2024 episode of The Kardashians, the mother of six shared that she was preparing for surgery after learning about the ovarian cyst. She also admitted that she “mourns” her ovaries because they gave her six children.
Speaking about the emotional decision, Jenner said, “I’ve made peace with the fact that this is happening. But I’m still a little nervous. It’s growing, so let’s just get rid of it.”
Jenner's physician, Dr. Thais Aliabadi, revealed to People that although it was a benign cyst, it poses a risk for older women.
He said, "After menopause, you're not ovulating. So, you're not supposed to have anything growing on your ovary. Now, if it's stable and it stays stable, most of them are benign. You can watch, but if anything grows in the ovary, I don't like it."

'I Just Didn’t Want Any Kind of Medical Issue'
Calling the operation (which took place in 2024) "the best decision" she has ever made, Jenner said, "I mean, I just didn’t want any kind of medical issue or thing that might be capable of attaching itself and growing back."
The 70-year-old revealed that she didn't truly “need” her uterus anymore since all her children, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner are now adults, and even have their own children.
Her surgery lasted for just 22 minutes and was also videotaped. Her physician revealed, “I recorded your surgery for you. It’s 22 minutes skin-to-skin.”
Other Celebrities Who Have Undergone Hysterectomy
Jenner is not the only celebrity to speak publicly about undergoing the procedure. Stars including Olivia Munn, Amy Schumer, Angelina Jolie and Viola Davis have also shared their experiences.
After being diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer in 2023, Munn revealed in a 2024 interview with Vogue that she underwent multiple surgeries, including a double mastectomy, hysterectomy and oophorectomy, which involved removing her uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries.

In 2015, Jolie revealed in a New York Times op-ed that she had a preventive hysterectomy.
This decision was partly influenced by the discovery of the BRCA1 gene mutation — but not entirely.
Talking about the BRCA1 gene mutation, the actress wrote in the op-ed, “I did not do this solely because I carry the BRCA1 gene mutation, and I want other women to hear this. In my case, the Eastern and Western doctors I met agreed that surgery to remove my tubes and ovaries was the best option, because on top of the BRCA gene, three women in my family have died from cancer."
