Jeffries Loses Cool on Don Lemon Show; Claims Pam Bondi ‘Deserved’ Firing in Grave Warning to GOP

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) believes that President Donald Trump's firing of Pam Bondi as the US Attorney General was all G-d's doing and that she deserved it.

On Saturday, April 4, Jeffries appeared on Don Lemon's YouTube show, where he joked about Bondi getting removed from the Department of Justice. "Does this give you some degree of satisfaction?" host Lemon asked the Democrat.

"Well, this is Holy Week, and vengeance is mine, saith the Lord," Jeffries replied, referring to Romans 12:19. "But as someone who grew up in the Cornerstone Baptist Church, we put these things in G-d's hands, and it tends to work out," the House Minority leader said.

During the show, Jeffries labeled Bondi "a disgrace", and claimed that she "deserved" to be fired. "Listen, Pam Bondi's a disgrace. I mean, she violated her oath of office, weaponized the Department of Justice, as you very well know. She deserved it, she should have never been confirmed," he said.

Jeffries also referred to the federal charges against Lemon after he appeared in an anti-ICE protest earlier this year, which sabotaged a church service in Minnesota. Prosecutors accused Lemon of participating in the protest, but he maintained that he was merely reporting. Critics also shared video footage that showed Lemon handing out donuts and coffee to the protestors and argued that it was a sign that he was not just reporting on the incident.

"Shame on those Republican senators, but we're going to hold her and others accountable, particularly in the aftermath of Democrats taking back control of the House in November," Jeffries then added. Lemon has pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against him.

Reports about Bondi being ousted as the US Attorney General made waves on Thursday, April 2. However, according to CNN, President Trump had already informed her of his decision the previous day.

The next day, Trump took to Truth Social and wrote that Bondi will now be "transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector," without clarifying the reason for ending her 14-month tenure as Attorney General.

Trump praised Bondi for her work in the DOJ, writing, "Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900."

According to CNN, sources said that Trump had been frustrated with Bondi for multiple reasons, including her handling of the notorious Jeffrey Epstein Files, which drew criticism from Republican allies. Reports also said that Trump was not happy that Bondi had not investigated or prosecuted enough of his political adversaries.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will replace Bondi and serve as the acting attorney general after she transitions to her new role over the coming month. According to CBS News, EPA Administrator and former Republican congressman Lee Zeldin is being considered to be the next AG.
