President Donald Trump’s attempt to push for denaturalization has led Attorney General Pam Bondi to issue a statement that is being termed by critics as insensitive. The comments arise after the citizenship of two individuals was revoked because they were found to be lying on their applications.

Regardless, netizens have not appreciated her remarks, which have sparked heated debates about constitutional rights. Despite her attempts to minimize the damage, citizens are left aghast, as Bondi appears to have overlooked how the Constitution functions.

Pam Bondi’s Claims Over What American Citizenship Really Means

During an exclusive interview with Fox News, Pam Bondi shared her thoughts on what it means to have American citizenship. She said, “Being a citizen in our country is a privilege, not a right.” She continued that President Donald Trump will only have those citizens in this country who “deserve to be here.”

However, her scathing remarks were not over yet. The Attorney General took to her social media after the interview, sharing the link to an article about the Trump administration’s successful citizenship revocation. She also called American citizenship a “sacred privilege” and “not a cheap status that can be obtained dishonestly.”

The post further read that the denaturalization action showcases the DOJ’s nonstop effort to strip citizenship from immigrants. However, the citizenship was revoked only for those migrants who had either concealed their crimes or committed fraud during the immigration process.

Her comments went viral on X, almost instantly receiving backlash from social media users. A user wrote, “The fact that you have lied so extensively about the Epstein files, I do not trust that you will not lie about citizens to remove them. You have betrayed the trust of the American people.” Another user added, “No, Pam. Citizenship is a sacred RIGHT for all who qualify. American citizenship practices were built on the understanding that old customs of weaponizing statelessness and citizenship benefits as privilege were an inhumane practice of tyrannical rulers.”

A third user commented, “Do your job, Bondi. Protect the Constitution, not the criminal.” Another user tweeted, “You’re concealing crimes committed by Trump and his friends every day you hide the Epstein files. You’re the one defrauding America.” A third one wrote, “Start with @FLOTUS & @elonmusk. They both came here illegally, lied on their immigration paperwork, and, BONUS, they are still citizens of where they came from.”

Lastly, a user wrote, “You talk about denaturalizing people that the Constitution says are citizens. If you do not understand this or believe in the Constitution, you need to resign right now. You are not fit for your position!!!!” A majority of the comments on her post also criticized her for protecting the names on the Epstein files, while some called Trump a tyrannical ruler.

Justice Department Ramps up Denaturalization Against a Migrant

As per a report by the Washington Examiner, the Trump administration urged the Justice Department to speed up the denaturalization process against fraudulent immigrants. The urgency was raised after two individuals had obtained citizenship through unfair means, and a third case also appeared tied to alleged marriage fraud.

In one of the recent court‑secured denaturalization proceedings, a judge revoked the citizenship of a Ukrainian migrant, Vladimir Volgaev. The reports mentioned that he was convicted of smuggling a firearm component and defrauding federal housing programs.

He secured U.S. citizenship in 2016, but failed to conceal his criminal activities, which the court found were serious enough to revoke his U.S. citizenship, disqualifying him from exhibiting “good moral character” necessary for naturalization. Brett A. Shumate, Assistant Attorney General, stated that Volgaev’s case sent a clear message that he repaid the U.S. with malice, while the country provided him with safety, housing, and citizenship.

The official continued that they will not tolerate such behavior by allowing individuals like him to retain U.S. citizenship. He insisted that such individuals should not have been granted citizenship in the first place.
