JD Vance and Erika Kirk Are Sharing a Stage Again — and the Internet Is Already Preparing Its Reactions

The internet had thoughts after Erika Kirk, who has taken on a leadership role at Turning Point USA following the death of her husband Charlie Kirk, missed an appearance with Vice President JD Vance at a TPUSA event on April 14, 2026. While Kirk’s security concerns were cited as the reason for the miss, political commentator Candace Owens suggested that the move was rather due to “low ticket” sales.

Nonetheless, TPUSA students announced that the duo is set to make a joint appearance again soon, and social media users have been responding in large numbers.

On April 22, the official TPUSA Students account shared a post announcing that JD Vance and Erika Kirk will share the stage on April 30. The post, captioned for Iowa students, read, “Join Vice President JD Vance and Erika Kirk for an unforgettable night as we bring the conversation straight to Iowa State University.”

The event is free of charge, a move that comes after Vance drew criticism for appearing at a venue that was approximately 75 percent empty.

Soon after the post was made, social media users referenced Kirk's previous cancellation as they reacted to her teaming up with Vance for the second time.

A user wrote, “Let’s see how ticket sales go.” Another wrote, “Will Erika “no show” actually be there? Or is the Secret Service not enough security for her?” While a third user sarcastically questioned, “Is Erika going to cancel again when the crowds are small or are yall going to bus people in?”

Another user wrote, “I would not want my child within a hundred feet of Erika after she was cancelling events due to threats?” and one slammed, “Why don’t you read the room? Or at least read the comments. You’re done. You’re not going to use Charlie’s ghost to sign the US up to the Israel First program.” One more suggested, “Don’t bother going. Erika will cancel her appearance 5 minutes before it starts.”

Notably, according to US Weekly, a source cited security concerns as the reason for her missing the event earlier this month. The insider said, “The specific threats were targeting her and her ability to get to and from the event,” and added that her security team didn’t feel they could protect her life.

Candace Owens claimed Kirk "pulled out because of bad ticket sales" in response to Kirk's post expressing disappointment about missing the event.

Kirk faced backlash following the viral spread of footage showing her and Vance in a close embrace. In the visuals, Vance appeared to put his hands on her waist, and she was seen running her fingers through his hair. While introducing VP on stage, she said she saw some qualities in Vance that reminded her of her late husband, Charlie Kirk.

Several internet users didn’t miss the chance to reference the incident as the duo gears up for their joint appearance. A user wrote, “Oh, I hate public lovers’ quarrels”, while another commented, “They’re smashin.’”

Vance had a well-documented professional and personal relationship with Charlie Kirk, and it would naturally make sense for him to collaborate with his widow. Nevertheless, ever since Charlie’s passing, his widow’s every move has been questioned.
