'J-Rod' 2.0? Alex Rodriguez Reportedly Trying to Rekindle Romance With Ex-Flame Jennifer Lopez

It appears that Jennifer Lopez’s ex-fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, wishes to rekindle their “J-Rod” romance now that they both are single.

While Lopez’s divorce from Ben Affleck was finalized in January 2025, Rodriguez recently split from fitness instructor Jaclyn Cordeiro.

Now, the baseball star has reportedly reached out to the singer-actress to seek that spark again.

According to journalist Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice May 28 Substack report, Rodriguez reached out to Lopez to initiate a reconnection.

Even though the move was made privately, it has already managed to turn some heads in Hollywood, the report stated.

An insider close to the development told Shuter, “Alex never fully got over Jennifer. The relationship meant everything to him, and once he became single again, reaching out felt inevitable.”

During their time together between 2017 and 2021, Lopez and Rodriguez were one of the most photographed and publicized couples, commonly known as “J-Rod” among fans and the media circles.

They announced their engagement in March 2019 and were reportedly planning to tie the knot in 2020, which had to be postponed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, rumors started to swirl in about trouble in paradise in early 2021.

The rumors turned out to be true when the On the Floor hitmaker called off her engagement with the former New York Yankees slugger in April 2021.

The reason behind the split was allegedly said to be major trust issues that had seeped in between the former couple, with the rumor mill heavily focused on speculations regarding Rodriguez reportedly cheating on Lopez.

Follow their split, Rodriguez dated fitness model Kathryne Padgett in early 2022 before breaking up with her in September of the same year.

The A-Rod Corp CEO then began a relationship with Cordeiro, a fitness instructor from Canada.

The duo dated for more than three years before parting ways in May 2026.

On the other hand, Lopez rekindled her relationship with Affleck, with whom she was previously engaged in 2002.

They tied the knot in 2022, subjecting themselves to heavy media scrutiny as fans hoped that “Bennifer 2.0” would pass the litmus test this time.

However, Jennifer and Affleck parted ways again after the Shotgun Wedding actress filed for divorce in 2024, which was finalized in early 2025. It seems that since then, Lopez has been happy to be in her “single era.”

Lopez told Good Morning America that she is focusing on her professional life as well as catering to motherhood duties for her twins, Emme and Max, whom she shares with her former husband Marc Anthony.

“I am a mom of graduates this year who are going to college,” Lopez said, adding, “I am a showgirl and an entertainer and an actor and an entrepreneur. I am happy, and I am healthy, and I’m grateful. That’s who I am today. And I’m surrounded by love, which is the best part.”

It will be interesting to witness whether Lopez might be interested in revisiting her relationship with Rodriguez.
