‘If They Left You up There’: Whoopi Goldberg Brutally Mocks Trump Over NASA Space Remarks
During a recent episode of The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg took a sharp dig at President Donald Trump.
Her mockery came as the show's panel discussed the Artemis II astronauts’ visit to the White House, when Trump said that he could go to space himself.
Speaking about the same, Goldberg stated that the president should be allowed to go to space if he promises never to return.
Her remark caught attention for its blunt tone, which was followed by co-host Joy Behar's jibe at Vice President JD Vance and Speaker Mike Johnson.
Donald Trump Faces Scrutiny Over Space Mission Comments
Whoopi Goldberg and other 'The View' co-hosts take a jibe at Donald Trump.
During Thursday, April 30's episode of The View, the panel addressed comments made by Trump at the White House when Artemis II astronauts visited him after their mission.
In a clip shown on the program, Trump was heard saying, “To get in there, you have to be very smart, have to do a lot of things physically good.”
“So I would have had no trouble making it, I'm physically very, very good,” the president added.
Following his comments, Trump asked a NASA staffer if a president is "allowed to go up in one of these missions?”
Goldberg shared her view on the same, saying, "You could go up there — if they left you up there.”
Continuing her jab, Goldberg stated, “You can drive around on the moon on the rover, but I don't think you would really qualify because you need a master's degree in STEM fields. You don't have any master's degrees.”
The television host further added, “And you have to have skills in leadership, teamwork and communications.”
'Dumbest That He Ever Had'
As Goldberg continued to list the qualifications needed to travel to space, such as two years of related professional experience or at least 1,000 hours on a jet aircraft, Behar joined the conversation with her share of humor.
Commenting on the deferments that Trump received so he never had to serve in the armed forces, Behar took a jibe at the president.
“I'll tell you what he does have: He's got five deferments, I don't think that's allowed” the co-host said.
Behar added, “Take [J.D.] Vance and that Mike Johnson with you. I hear that Jupiter is lovely this time of year. Maybe Jupiter, because the moon is not that far. Jupiter is further away."
"Don't they have to wear a helmet? That's going to mess up his hair," Behar joked, referring to the president.
Co-host Sunny Hostin joined in as well, saying, “I don't think the president would qualify for space travel, especially when he led with ‘you have to be really smart.’ Let's remember his professor at UPenn… remembers this president being the dumbest that he ever had.”
