Questioning the Oscar-winning director's decision to cast Nyong'o as Helen of Troy, the billionaire said that casting a black actress as "the face that launched a thousand ships" is because Nolan "wants the awards."

The Tesla CEO took to X and responded to conservative commentator Matt Walsh's post.

Musk also questioned the inclusion of transgender actor Elliot Page in the adaptation of the ancient Greek poet Homer's epic work, as reported by The Independent.

On X, Walsh wrote, "Not one person on the planet actually thinks that Lupita Nyong'o is ‘the most beautiful woman in the world. But Christopher Nolan knows that he would be called racist if he gave 'the most beautiful woman' role to a white woman. Nolan is technically talented but a coward."

Replying to him, Musk wrote under his post, "True." Reacting to one X user's question, "Why is Christopher Nolan like many other directors so keen to race swap white characters?" the Tesla CEO wrote, "He wants the awards."

Musk agreed with Metaxas and wrote, "Chris Nolan has shown total contempt for the Greek people."

Elliot Page Rumored to Play the Ghost of Achilles in 'The Odyssey'

On X, Musk addressed rumors about Page's role as Achilles in the film. According to reports, there is no confirmation regarding Page's involvement in the film.

Nonetheless, according to rumors, the trans actor might play the ghost of Achilles.

One user on X shared a report of Page's casting in The Odyssey and wrote, "Over the weekend, online reports suggested that Achilles might be played by trans actor Elliot Page in the new film adaptation of The Odyssey. The idea isn’t as outrageous as it seems.”

Musk promptly replied, stating, “One of the dumbest and most twisted things I’ve ever heard.”

Filmed entirely with IMAX 70mm cameras, The Odyssey features Matt Damon as Odysseus alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron.

The movie is eyeing a theatrical release on July 17, 2026.
