From MAGA Loyalist to White House Correspondents' Dinner Guest: Nicki Minaj's Political Journey Has Come Full Circle

Nicki Minaj’s “pro MAGA” stance and close bond with Donald Trump have earned her a seat at the upcoming White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

In late January, Minaj publicly displayed a gold card she said was given to her by the president to fast-track her citizenship process.

Minaj will attend as the guest of Fox News, which is also throwing its VIP bash before Saturday, April 25, 2026’s official dinner. Fox News confirmed her attendance to USA Today.

The cocktail pre-party at the Washington Hilton will be occupied by other eminent members, like the Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk and NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore. Minaj will attend alongside prominent figures including Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Nicki Minaj has been in the center of a massive controversy ever since she announced her pro-MAGA stance to the world. She also spoke at a Treasury event recently in January 2026 to promote Trump Accounts.

The Anaconda hitmaker’s first astonishing act of declaring herself a MAGA loyalist to the world was when she sat down with Erika Kirk for an interaction at a TPUSA event in December 2025 where she openly praised the President and JD Vance.

Not only this but she also called herself the president's "number one fan" and said that she has the, “utmost respect and admiration for our president." Minaj's public display of the gold card and her vocal support for the Trump administration led her to receive several brickbats on social media and rumors of being allegedly boycotted by the Hollywood music fraternity.

Minaj's stance on the Trump administration took a 180-degree turn during the president's second term. Speaking on the Katie Miller Podcast, Minaj explained her evolving view of the president, where she felt that the president had been an alleged victim of bullying.

The Bang Bang singer told Miller, “A lot of that bullying, and the smear campaigns and all of the lying, I felt that that had been done to me for so many years. And I was watching it in real time happen to someone else, and I didn't think he deserved it."

News of Minaj's attendance at the dinner drew immediate reactions on social media.

One of the social media users stated, “They better drag her in an intelligent conversation so that she cannot keep up.” An X user added, “I’m seated for this mess.” Another user on X commented, “Her personal politics aside, why is she here? Why is she involved with all of these political people when she has zero experience in politics? This is so weird.”
