Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel said during a Fox News interview that he has evidence to support President Donald Trump’s repeated assertion that the 2020 election was rigged.

The FBI director also suggested that he could release his evidence as early as this week.

The remarks come days after The Atlantic published allegations that Patel has a problem with excessive drinking.

Kash Patel alleges that the 2020 presidential election was rigged.

Appearing on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures with host Maria Bartiromo, Patel said officials have information and "evidence" backing Trump's long-standing claim that the 2020 election was rigged.

Although he did not share details about the evidence, the FBI director told viewers to “stay tuned this week,” hinting that the evidence could be released soon.

“They tried to rig the entire system. That's something I'm not going to allow. We are going to be making arrests. It's coming. I promise you it's coming soon. We have the information that backs President Trump’s claim,” Patel stated.

“I can’t get ahead of the Department of Justice and the president, but President Trump… President Trump speaks truthfully when he says that,” he added.

Patel concluded by addressing the viewers, as he said, “Stay tuned this week, you might see a thing or two.”

Meanwhile, Trump has repeatedly claimed that he lost the 2020 election to former President Joe Biden in November because of fraud, despite the courts rejecting those claims.

Trump's efforts to contest the results contributed to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, which led to legal proceedings against participants.

However, those prosecuted for their involvement were later pardoned in 2025 after Trump began his second term.

Meanwhile, Patel's comments about the 2020 election being rigged come in the wake of him facing allegations of excessive drinking, according to a report published by The Atlantic.

The report suggests that more than two dozen people have come forward to express concerns about the FBI director's drinking issues.

Sources told the outlet that Patel drinks to excess at Washington club Ned's and The Poodle Room in Las Vegas.

This has even led to times of struggle when his security failed to wake him due to apparent inebriation.

In addition, current and former officials also told the media outlet that Patel's behavior has raised national security concerns amid the U.S. conflict with Iran.

Patel, however, has denied all allegations leveled against him. The report, nonetheless, has added to scrutiny of his tenure as FBI director.
