Donald Trump's 6'3" Height Claims Face Scrutiny After Photo with Dutch King Goes Viral
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands visited Washington on Monday, April 13, for a meeting with President Donald Trump, who invited the royal couple to stay at the White House amid ongoing tensions over U.S. commitments to NATO, according to The Irish Star.
A photograph from the visit drew considerable attention online because it appeared to contradict Trump's longstanding claim regarding his height.
Donald Trump's Height Under the Spotlight
On a number of occasions, Trump has claimed that his height is six feet, three inches, which would make him the third-tallest U.S. president, behind Abraham Lincoln and Lyndon B. Johnson, both of whom measured six feet, four inches.
In April 2025, the White House released a brief overview of Trump's physical exam, shedding light on his height and weight.
A summary of the physical exam listed the president's height as 75 inches, equivalent to six feet, three inches.
If accurate, that height would place Trump roughly level with Dutch King Willem-Alexander, who stands between six feet, two inches and six feet, three inches.
Photos from the meeting, however, showed Trump appearing at least two to three inches shorter than the king.

The visit by Willem-Alexander and Máxima is part of a three-day diplomatic tour that also includes stops in Philadelphia and Miami.
The trip comes amid the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran and continued remarks by Trump about potentially withdrawing the U.S. from NATO and claiming Greenland.
Despite public criticism of the trip in the Netherlands, the Dutch royal house said the visit was intended to strengthen the country's relationship with the United States and reflect on their "deep historical and cultural ties."
The royal house of the Netherlands said, "The relations and the mutual transatlantic ties between the U.S. and the Kingdom of the Netherlands are important for security and prosperity. The working visit aims to underscore and strengthen the relationship and intensive cooperation in numerous fields at both the federal and state levels."
"The visit offers an opportunity, in the year that the U.S. celebrates 250 years of independence, to reflect on the deep historical and cultural ties between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the U.S," it added.

'Wrong Side of History'
According to The New York Times, lawmakers and members of the public in the Netherlands warned that the visit would "put them on the wrong side of history." A public petition had also urged the royal couple to cancel the trip.
Notably, Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten recently faced several media questions about Trump's threats to destroy Iran's civilization the previous week.
In a social media post on April 9, Trump issued new warnings about Greenland and criticized NATO for what he described as abandoning the U.S. during its conflict with Iran.
"NATO WASN'T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON'T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN. REMEMBER GREENLAND, THAT BIG, POORLY RUN, PIECE OF ICE!!!" he wrote.
