It appears that the failed U.S.-Iran peace talks have adversely affected President Donald Trump's image among the MAGA supporters.

A recent poll has revealed a surprising drop in Trump's approval rating among the conservative fan base.

The poll was conducted during ceasefire talks between the United States and Iran found that 68 percent of Americans are worried about the ongoing conflict, as approval of Trump's handling of the war declined.

Breakdown of Poll Results

The new poll, conducted by CBS News, indicated that Americans maybe losing faith in the president, at a time when the conversation between United States and Iran concluded without an agreement.

The poll was conducted between April 8 and 10, and asked Americans to describe their feelings about the U.S.-Iran conflict.

Among respondents, 29 percent said they felt proud, 32 percent felt safe and 32 percent felt confident. By contrast, 54 percent said they felt angry, 57 percent felt stressed and 68 percent said they were worried about the situation.

When asked how well the conflict between Iran and the U.S. was going, 41 percent said very or somewhat well, while 59 percent said very or somewhat badly — a decline of two percentage points compared to a poll conducted in March 2026.

On whether Trump had "a clear plan for the U.S.'s conflict with Iran," 38 percent of respondents said he did, while 62 percent said they saw uncertainty in his strategic approach.

Additionally, 66 percent said the Trump administration had not clearly explained the U.S. military's goals in Iran, while 34 percent said the objectives had been "clearly explained."

When asked about the consistency of the administration's stated goals, 36 percent said the administration had not communicated its goals, while 64 percent said, "They've been changing what they say about goals."

A separate question asked respondents about Trump's April 7 post on Truth Social. Ten percent said they strongly liked it, 9 percent somewhat liked it, 21 percent felt neutral, 12 percent somewhat disliked it and 47 percent strongly disliked it.

The poll results drew responses from political commentators and analysts on social media.

Trial and constitutional lawyer Robert Barnes shared a post on X, writing, "Trump complete collapse amongst his original base: working class voters."

Political activist Amy Siskind wrote, "40 POINT SWING!" Democratic strategist and former Biden administration official Neera Tanden posted on X, "This is the making of a party realignment."

Some social media users shared their views on the findings. One user wrote, "Too early to say 'I told ya so!'" Another said, "They will still vote Republican."

An individual wrote, "I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. Trump is a B* artist who rode a wave of populist sentiment in 2016 but lacks the intellect or temperament to follow through on his campaign promises."
