President Donald Trump has sparked intense social media backlash after praising his son, Eric Trump, during a personal tour of ongoing White House ballroom renovations. While showing his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, around the complex, the Trump praised his son's role in the massive construction efforts.

Trump's immense praise for his son didn't sit right with the netizens. Many people on social media joked that Trump is treating the historic White House like a private family business. This online backlash comes at a tough time for the administration.

On Saturday, a judge officially denied a GOP bill that tried to use $1 billion of taxpayer money to pay for security at Trump's massive new White House ballroom. The judge blocked the funding on technical grounds, according to Mother Jones.

During the tour, Trump also stressed that the project is being funded via private donations and carries a cost of $400 million.

During the family walk, the president took Lara for a tour of the Oval Office. Calling Eric a "fantastic builder", he praised his son for being deeply involved in managing the complicated White House upgrades.

He said, "I have to say, Eric Trump is a really good builder. He has the gene. He has a gene that I have... he's done a great job. he's a fantastic builder. He looked at this, understood it immediately. Look at the parts. Look at the amount of rebar in there. That's, you know, that's not a normal situation. This is not what you do for a normal floor.”

Trump also defended the big building projects, stressing that the changes are needed to create a grand space for formal government events. However, users on X did not agree and flooded the internet with jokes and memes.

Trump's praise for his son Eric triggered a massive debate online. Many also mocked the president for using official government rooms to boast about his family's construction skills.
