Donald Trump faces flak over comments on Epstein survivors.
Donald Trump Sparks Outrage Over ‘Victims or Whatever’ Comment on Epstein Survivors
Ever since the Department of Justice (DOJ) released a bunch of documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files, President Donald Trump's alleged ties to the late s*x offender have remained a topic of discussion among the public.
The president may have fueled further talks regarding the same with certain comments he recently made during a press conference held before his departure for Las Vegas.
Trump said he understands why Epstein survivors may not want to testify under oath before Congress, describing them as "victims or whatever."
His remarks caught the attention of the public, drawing criticism online.
Donald Trump Weighs in on Public Hearings With Epstein Survivors
Donald Trump speaks about a potential public hearing for Epstein survivors.
During the press conference, Trump addressed several topics, including the ongoing conflict in Iran and questions regarding the country's economy.
When a reporter asked about First Lady Melania Trump's suggestion that Epstein survivors testify before Congress, Trump said he had no objection if the women chose not to speak publicly about the issue again.
"I think we've had a lot of public hearings. I'm okay with it," Trump said.
"That's what I heard — that the women, the victims or whatever, they refused to go under oath, which was a little surprising," he added.
Trump defended Melania and claimed that the first lady had supported the idea of a congressional hearing because she had been accused of ties to Epstein.
The president also backed Melania's claim that Epstein did not introduce the first couple to each other.
Trump was referring to Melania's speech on April 10, where she said, “I never been friends with Epstein.”
During the speech, the first lady said that she met her husband through overlapping social circles and stated that “Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump.”
Melania Trump denies having any ties with Jeffrey Epstein during a White House speech.
She said opposition leaders were attempting to cause "damage to my good name" and called for Congress to hold a public hearing with Epstein survivors to hear their accounts.
Some Epstein survivors publicly criticized Melania's remarks, noting that no arrests had been made in connection with names listed in the released Epstein files.
'When When Will He Go Under Oath?'
The president’s "victims or whatever" comments went viral on social media and drew strong reactions from netizens.
One user wrote, “Who cares what Trump thinks. They have to live with everything every day of their lives. You want to publicly humiliate them and scare the [expletive] outta them more?”
An individual commented, “Just another day more lies about all of it. He has no Iran deal and he started a war to distract from the Epstein [expletive] or Israeli blackmail.”
Another user stated, “When will he go under oath?” sharing an AI-generated image of Trump holding a sign that read, “I’m a r*****.”
“What a thing to say about the victims. But it's not a surprise coming from the Convicted Felon, Fascist, Racist, R*****, Sociopath, Warmonger, P********, Fat Pig,” fumed one user.
