Trump Targets NATO and Pope Leo in Rapid Truth Social Posts Amid Iran War
Donald Trump Floods Truth Social With Back-to-Back Iran Posts, Slams Critics and Takes Fresh Swipe at Pope Leo XIV
Donald Trump posted a series of messages on social media on Tuesday, April 14, addressing criticism of the ongoing conflict with Iran and again targeting Pope Leo XIV for his calls for peace.
In his first post, Trump addressed the pope, saying, “Will someone please tell Pope Leo that Iran has killed at least 42,000 innocent, completely unarmed, protesters in the last two months, and that for Iran to have a Nuclear Bomb is absolutely unacceptable,” further saying, “AMERICA IS BACK!!!”

The president followed up with another post, criticizing the North Atlantic Treaty Organization for not standing by the U.S. He stated, “NATO wasn’t there for us, and they won’t be there for us in the future!” Days earlier Trump expressed his disappointment with NATO for not backing United States. He had written on his Truth Social, “None of these people, including our own, very disappointing, NATO, understood anything unless they have pressure placed upon them!!!”

Trump continued his posting spree with five additional posts linking to multiple articles published by Just The News, including his 2019 impeachment, coverage of the Iran conflict, and the Democratic Party fundraising platform and PAC, ActBlue. He remarked, “The most corrupt group in Government!” He then took a short break from his aggressive social media rant to announce his interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News on Wednesday morning.
Trump is soon going to appear on an interview with Fox News.
After an hourlong break, he resumed by sharing screenshots of posts made by his supporters. Two of the posts were focused on his ongoing dispute with the pope and the backlash he received after sharing an AI-generated image portraying himself as a Jesus-like figure. Another post drew attention to criticism of the Trump administration that had been shared from Pope Leo’s X account before he became pope.
The post noted, “It’s fascinating to see what social media reveals about a person before they become the Pope,” further noting that Leo, whose real name is Robert Prevost, had criticized Trump and his Vice President, JD Vance, promoted Covid-19 vaccines and condemned racism. Reacting to the post, Trump offered a brief response, suggesting, “Not good!!!”
He also posted two magazine covers from Newsweek and The New Republic, portraying former President Barack Obama as a saint-like figure, noting that there was “zero outrage from Democrats or the left” at the time.
AI-generated controversial post shared by Trump
The post references the AI-generated image Trump shared over the weekend, depicting him as a Jesus-like figure. The controversial post sparked significant backlash and was viewed as “sacriligeous.”
The President later defended himself, claiming he was depicted as a “doctor.” He added, “It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better, and I do make people better,” further tying the image to the Red Cross.
