Donald Trump shares a picture of himself as Jesus Christ after his rant against the Pope

The president shared the picture less than an hour after his rant against the pope, whom he called “weak on crime, and terrible for foreign policy.” He also suggested he played a role in the pope’s rise, which he backed by stating that the latter was selected because the Catholic Church believed that an American Pope would be suitable to deal with Donald Trump.

Trump stated in his rant against the pope, “Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. It’s hurting him very badly and, more importantly, it’s hurting the Catholic Church.”

The President further elaborated on his grievances against Pope Leo XIV later that evening by telling reporters at Joint Base Andrews that he does not think that the Pope is doing a very good job.

Responding to the Pope’s repeated calls for peace to prevail in the Middle East, the POTUS said, “We don’t like a pope who’s going to say it’s ok to have a nuclear weapon.”

Some Republicans were also miffed about Donald Trump's post as Jesus Christ

He added, “We don’t want a pope that says crime is ok in our cities. I am not a fan of Pope Leo. He’s a very liberal person, and he’s a man who doesn’t believe in stopping crime.”

Many social media users, including Republican members, slammed Donald Trump’s picture as Jesus Christ. One of the social media users wrote, “It genuinely baffles me how his Christian supporters still support him.” An X user commented, “MAGA will find a way to defend this when it's literally written in the Bible that you should not do this.” A user on X wrote, “Never seen a more egoistic and delusional politician like this man.”

Former MAGA Rep. and Trump’s former friend-turned-foe, Marjorie Taylor Greene, criticized the post and wrote on social media, “On Orthodox Easter, President Trump attacked the Pope because the Pope is rightly against Trump’s war in Iran, and then he posted this picture of himself as if he is replacing Jesus.”

Greene added, “This comes after last week’s post of his evil tirade on Easter and then threatening to kill an entire civilization. I completely denounce this, and I’m praying against it. It’s more than blasphemy. It’s an Antichrist spirit.”

Right-wing influencer Milo Yiannopoulos also criticized Trump's post depicting himself as Jesus Christ and said, “Oh hell no. We tolerated this kind of meme against our better judgment because he promised to save America and only when it was clear he didn’t actually think he was the Messiah. Why do I feel like Paula White did this to him, and to us? Pray for his soul. Pray for us all.”
