In one of the video clips posted by Fox News on their X account, Melania said, “All of this is happening for their future, so they will be safe in the years to come.” The response came after a reporter asked her for a “message to children who find themselves in war zones.” She further added, “We are fighting for children who are now in a warzone. We’re keeping them safe as best we can. But we’re fighting for their parents, their grandparents. We’re fighting for them...for their future.”

Considering the tensions that have escalated due to the conflict, social media users criticized Melania, noting that Iranian children have been killed in the war. A user wrote, “Liars. You killed at least 160 school girls in Tehran; this is a war crime. You are a terrorist state and hated across the world. You don't care about the Iranian people; everyone knows it. Iranians who are against Mullahs are regretting now you are targeting civilian infrastructures.”

Another user said, “They clearly do not know what happens when you bomb a country, those children grow up you "hate" you…”

A third user lashed out, “Her husband, Donald Trump and his handler are actively bombing universities and killing sooo many people.” One user remarked, “Every time we call war ‘help,’ we’re writing the origin story for the next generation that sees America as the enemy. You don’t win hearts and minds with bombs, you just pass the conflict down to their kids.”

One more comment read, “Fighting for them by bombing them? We saw what you did to the 170 Minab girls, other schools and universities in Iran. Plus the hospitals which were bombed. Stop lying and stop killing!”

A joint strike by the US and Israel was launched against Iran on February 28 without congressional approval. Over 175 civilians, including over 100 school children, were killed after a strike hit a girls’ elementary school in Southern Iran. According to the New York Times, the United States was behind the strike, insisting that the missile in the strike was a Tomahawk missile, and the US is the only country to use those kinds of weapons. During a press conference on April 6, Trump threatened to bomb Iran and “bring them back to the Stone Ages.”
