A flyer recently shared her traumatic experience of being heckled by airport staff over her size. She vented her frustration on TikTok, describing how their unnecessary comments and unprofessional attitude ruined her otherwise pleasant flight.
She expressed disbelief at the discriminatory treatment, which escalated to staff assuming she wouldn't fit in the seat. They even made the wild claim that she never boarded the plane.
Flyer Gets Thrown Off Flight and Shamed For Her Size
Keirstyn Catron shared her story on TikTok, revealing the incident occurred in November 2025 at LaGuardia Airport, New York. She noted it happened with Southwest Airlines, two weeks before their plus-size policy took effect.
Catron explained she was seated among waiting passengers when an announcement came over the intercom. She claimed it stated staff were reducing the plane's weight due to being fully packed.
An airline employee then approached, asking if she could fit in a seat. Stunned, Catron protested that she could fit in her assigned seat.
A Houston-based woman was shamed by Southwest airlines for her size.
Catron added, "She also said because of my size, I potentially would not be able to get on the plane. I never made it on the plane." She continued that airline staff told her, based on her "size, you're a very large woman," she could not board.
The Houston-based woman reiterated feeling mortified and embarrassed as everyone stared. "I simply was just discriminated against and thrown off based on an assumption."
She emphasized this was her first such experience, noting the agent and supervisor were "very rude and unwilling to help me."
