Ivanka Trump’s seemingly harmless Instagram post has landed her in hot water on social media. Netizens are questioning the timing of her life update, as her father, President Donald Trump’s decision to attack Iran has plunged the country into an escalating war.

Earlier this week, Ivanka took to Instagram to post pictures of her new puppy, Aspen. “Welcome to the family, Aspen,” she wrote in the caption. In one picture, she poses with the family dogs while sitting on the grand staircase of their multi-million-dollar Miami mansion.

She also shared photos and short videos in the carousel post, which shows her children — Arabella, Joseph and Theodore — holding the brand-new family member and playing with it on the floor. In one video, Arabella holds Aspen while the family’s other dogs stand nearby.

Ivanka Trump shares pictures of her family's new puppy, Aspen, in this Instagram post.

According to Atlanta Black Star, Ivanka’s family bought their dog, Winter, in 2019 as a gift for Arabella on her 8th birthday. In 2023, they welcomed a second furry friend, Simba — a German Shepherd-Lab mix they reportedly rescued.

The photo carousel quickly gained traction online, with fans and critics responding in the comments section. “Congrats on the new member of your family, Aspen,” wrote one user. Another chimed in, “I now love The Trump Family even more!”

A third person commented on Aspen, “A perfect choice of dog! Huskies are the best family dog!” Another user added, “Your dogs are beautiful. Welcome to the family, Aspen! It’s a wonderful family with a grand grandfather named President Trump.”

Timing of Ivanka's Post Irks Netizens

But not everyone shared the same enthusiasm for Ivanka's new puppy. Many also disapproved of her post's timing, wondering if she is detached from the common person's reality, especially amid the ongoing U.S.-Iran war.

“The soldiers are fighting while you live lives of luxury,” one critic wrote. “Look at her just living her life like nothing is happening, meanwhile Dozy Don starting wars from his golf course. Those Trumps are a trip,” said someone else. A third critic asked, “How would you feel if your boys were sent off to war?” Another added, “Ain’t nuthin cute about her wit that dog when her dad out here bombing schools. How do you even sleep at night (?)”

Trump Faces Growing Scrutiny Amid Iran War

The Trumps have faced increasing public scrutiny ever since the U.S. and Israel launched a joint airstrike against Iran in late February. The attack killed the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and triggered a war in the Middle Eastern region. As the war continues to escalate, people have ramped up pressure on Trump’s children — including calls for his youngest son, Barron Trump, to draft himself into the U.S. military. The Guardian reported last week that 13 U.S. service members have been killed in the war and more than 200 others were injured.

This Instagram post is not the first time Ivanka has been slammed for her father’s actions as president. Earlier this month, photos of her walking toward a synagogue with her sons also drew considerable online backlash. Ivanka has not yet responded to the criticism.
