Cher has learned that she has a 15-year-old granddaughter, and the unexpected discovery has left her "shocked," a new report claims.

It was in 2021 that the 79-year-old singer first heard rumors that she had a teenage granddaughter.

However, according to a source who spoke with RadarOnline, it was only last year that Cher realized the speculations were indeed true.

In 2018, while on the press tour for the sequel to Mamma Mia!, Cher shared that she wished she had grandchildren.

"I don't have any grandchildren. I wish I did, I really do. I once poured my gran's perfume down the toilet and all she did was laugh and say, 'Oh isn't she adorable, what a funny thing," she had said, the media outlet states.

Cher's Son Allegedly Kept His Daughter Away From Her

According to the news outlet, the 15-year-old is believed to be the daughter of Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman, who is currently in a jail cell on trespassing and break-in charges.

Reportedly, the girl lives close to Cher's Malibu home in California.

The source revealed that Elijah first informed Cher about his daughter in 2021.

"Cher apparently knew that she had a potential grandchild but didn't know it was true until recently, as she's had contact with the mother," the source told the media outlet.

The source also revealed that Elijah always knew about his daughter but he only told people about her in 2021 when he started "having issues."

The father-daughter duo also have pictures together, the source said.

The source also claimed that Elijah wanted to protect his daughter from Cher.

"Elijah has never wanted his mom to be in the kid's life because of their damaged relationship. He wanted to protect [his daughter] from Cher," the source added.

Cher's Strained Relationship with Her Son Elijah Blue Allman

Elijah is Cher's son from her second husband, Gregg Allman, to whom she was married for four years.

She has had a strained relationship with her troubled son, who will turn 50 this year.

Elijah has reportedly been struggling with addiction from a young age. In 2014, he revealed that he first used drugs when he was just 14 years old.

In September 2023, Elijah was reportedly spotted looking "strung out" or "passed out" by hotel staff at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Elijah is currently in police custody in New Hampshire. He was arrested for allegedly breaking into a house after being caught trespassing in the same neighborhood earlier.

He was formally arraigned on March 2.

A news update on X highlights Cher's attempt to obtain a conservatorship order over her son Elijah.

Talking about Elijah, the source told RadarOnline that he is in a "terrible state" and that is life is "completely out of control."

"It's obvious he's in no condition to be a parent," the source said.

Meanwhile, the source shared that Elijah's daughter is reportedly with her mother, who is keeping her away from Cher.

Earlier, Cher moved court to obtain a conservatorship order and control over her son's finances.

According to her, Elijah's addiction to drugs, along with his deteriorating physical and mental health made him incapable of managing his affairs.

However, her application was rejected by a judge at the Superior Court of Los Angeles County who said that she had "not been persuaded" by Cher's case.
