TPUSA Leader Resigns, Alleges Group ‘Strayed’ From Charlie Kirk’s Vision After Erika Took Over
'Charlie Would Not Support This': TPUSA Chapter President Resigns and Says the Organization Has Lost Its Way Since Erika Kirk Took Over
The president of Turning Point USA's University of Georgia chapter, Caroline Mattox, announced her resignation on social media Wednesday.
The announcement drew significant attention online, as the resignation follows by roughly a week an event at which Vice President JD Vance appeared on campus. Mattox posted a long note on social media, saying that the event was evidence that TPUSA has deviated from the late right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk’s vision.
On April 23, Caroline Mattox posted a lengthy statement on social media announcing her resignation from the presidency. She began by acknowledging that being a part of TPUSA has been her “dream,” adding that she was prepared to devote her college years to building its UGA chapter and “carrying on Charlie Kirk’s legacy.”
She pointed out that the organization was created to “promote truth, fight for conservative values, encourage independent thought, and defend free speech.”

Hitting out on the event organized by TPUSA earlier this month, which saw Vance in attendance, she stated, “It became abundantly clear to me following our event on April 14th that TPUSA’s mission and purpose have been lost along the way.”
She continued, “It became evident to me that the organization's current direction no longer aligns with the principles upon which it was founded. I witnessed firsthand what I believe to be the organization’s true direction following Charlie’s passing, and I have significant concerns about its messaging and current trajectory.”

It is worth noting that Charlie Kirk was assassinated last year in September during his address at Utah Valley University. After his passing, his widow, Erika Kirk, became CEO of the organization.
Mattox expressed gratitude for the experiences and lessons learned during her time with the organization. Nonetheless, she asserted that she could no longer "in good conscience continue to represent an organization."
She stated that Charlie devoted his life to standing for what he believed was true and added that she did not believe Kirk would support "the blatant dishonesty" coming from the organization he founded.
Soon after the post was shared, several internet users weighed in on the former president’s claims. In fact, Candace Owens shared the post on X and called the resignation letter "worth reading." She further added, “Though I doubt she will ever receive an apology from anyone on the executive team, we can at least share and hope @JDVance sees it. Classy and well-stated.”

It is worth noting that Erika Kirk was supposed to appear with JD Vance at the event. Kirk did not attend, with her team citing security concerns in a statement to US Weekly, while Owens claimed low ticket sales as the reason. On the other hand, the VP experienced an awkward moment after 75% of the seats remained free despite free tickets.
Now, the duo is set to share a stage once again on April 30 at Iowa State University. The announcement was shared by TPUSA Students on their X account, and social media users reacted quickly to the announcement, with many referencing Mattox's resignation in connection with the upcoming event.
