Britney Spears Entered Rehab After Sons Urged Help, May Avoid Jail
Britney Spears may avoid jail time in her DUI case after her two sons encouraged her to enter rehab in the weeks after her arrest.
The 44-year-old singer is facing a misdemeanor charge, but according to People, prosecutors say that she may be offered a plea deal that would allow her to skip jail time. Insiders reveal that her decision to get help was because her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, urged her to get help after her arrest, insisting that they wanted her to be healthy.
Spears' court date is set for May 4, and there is a chance that she could avoid being jailed if she takes a "wet reckless" plea deal. Since the singer had a low blood alcohol level, does not have a prior DUI history, and there was also no crash or injuries when she was arrested, she could be offered it.
If she accepts the plea deal, she may face probation for 12 months, pay a fine and take DUI classes. Typically, the deal is offered when the defendant has the "self-motivation to address underlying issues through rehabilitation or a drug and alcohol treatment program” which Spears has already done.
The "Circus" singer was arrested in March on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Officers pulled her over after she drove "erratically" and fast. When they pulled her over, Spears "showed signs of impairment."
Since then, Spears checked herself into a rehab facility a month afterwards because she had "hit rock bottom."
Britney's sons played key role in rehab decision

A source shared that one of the reasons Spears entered rehab in the first place was that her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, encouraged her to enter treatment after she was arrested.
“Her sons were a big part of getting her to rehab. They've been clear with her. They just want her to be healthy,” the source said.
It was due to their intervention that she decided to get help, and it came at a critical moment. Spears was apparently “very upset and shaken” after the incident and she was very concerned about the legal consequences following her arrest..
“She was very upset and shaken after her arrest. And she's terrified of going to jail,” the insider added. “It's taken weeks for her to realize that going to rehab is the best option.” And so she decided to take positive steps toward her healing.

Britney Spears has two sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline who have mostly stayed out of the spotlight while they were growing up. It is only recently, that Sean Preston and Jayden have been more in the media now that they are older at 20 and 19 respectively.
While their father had primary custody of them while they grew up, she maintained her relationship with them. However, they notably went on a boat trip earlier this year where they reconnected.
After Britney's DUI arrest, they have supported her to take the next steps to getting healthy.
