Britney Spears has reportedly checked herself into a rehab facility after she was arrested following a DUI case in March 2026.
The singer was detained on March 4 in Ventura, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
According to The Daily Beast, Spears is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, 2026. Her representatives confirmed to People and Variety that she had admitted herself voluntarily for the treatment.
A Celebrity Intelligence report claimed that the Toxic hitmaker admitted herself into the rehab facility to treat “co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders” and that the singer traveled to the location in a private jet.
A TMZ report claims that Britney Spears has checked herself into a rehab facility following a DUI arrest.
The publication further quoted a source close to Spears stating that the arrest served as a turning point for her after a difficult phase where she realized that she needs to get her life back on track.
The insider said, “This situation served as a wake-up call.” Another insider close to the Criminal singer revealed to TMZ that people close to Spears had been urging her to “get help.”
'Hit Rock Bottom'
Reportedly, following her DUI arrest, Spears has realized that she had “hit rock bottom.” Her 19-year-old son Jayden James and 20-year-old son Sean Preston are said to be extremely supportive of her decision.
Despite being a rage in the late 1990s and 2000s, Spears experienced a tumultuous phase in her personal life because of a stringent conservatorship controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, who reportedly controlled her financial, professional and personal decisions.

However, owing to an alleged mental turmoil and abuse along with the “Free Britney” campaign taking the center stage by her fans on social media, the Womanizer hitmaker was freed of the conservatorship in 2021.
As a result of the conservatorship, her family members had reportedly placed Spears in a restrictive situation after many alleged public breakdowns.
Britney Spears Has Enjoyed Significant Professional Success
Professionally, the singer continued to tour and make chartbuster music which made her one of the most bankable pop singers of her time. Spears penned her devastating experience with her conservatorship in a bold memoir titled The Woman In Me.
The memoir was released in 2023 for which she was reportedly paid around $12 million. In February, Spears sold the rights to her music to the publishing company Primary Wave for a whopping $200 million.
Spears’ last album was 2016’ Glory while she also released a duet titled Hold Me Closer with Elton John in 2022.
Much to the dismay of her fans who might be waiting for her comeback, the singer had revealed that she had no desire to return to making music with her last live show being in 2018.
She had also shared and later deleted a social media post in January where she revealed that she “will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons.”
However, she had randomly hinted that she might consider touring in Australia soon. However, Spears was seen in high spirits before the DUI fiasco as she got a chance to reconnect with her sons this year.
