The legal conflict between basketball player Anthony Edwards and his ex-girlfriend, Ayesha Howard, takes a murkier turn as he alleges her of publicly shaming him into reaching a child support settlement for their daughter, Aubri’, as revealed in the court documents.

According to the filings, Edwards claims Howard used social media to manipulate public perception and pressure him into higher payments. Conversely, Howard’s legal team maintains that the athlete has not been forthcoming regarding his financial obligations, leading to a heated dispute over a permanent support agreement and custody arrangements.

The controversy reportedly began in October 2024 following the birth of Aubri. Ayesha, who also shares a son named Jason with rapper Lil Baby, was allegedly asked by Edwards to take a paternity test to confirm he was the child’s father. According to a report by HotNewHipHop, the footballer was initially reluctant to embrace fatherhood, which further fueled tension surrounding the situation.

Anthony Edwards' legal team hits back at Ayesha Howard

According to the court documents that were filed on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, and were obtained by Page Six, the sportsman accused his ex-girlfriend of allegedly orchestrating “a coordinated media campaign” to force him to reach a monetary agreement.

This comes following the social media influencer filing a document that claimed that her ex-boyfriend “intentionally” hid his assets to escape from providing child support in California.

However, the Minnesota Timberwolves player’s legal team hit back at the media personality and alleged that she “manufactured media exposure as leverage against Anthony.”

The basketball player’s legal team added in the court documents that each motion allegedly “gives Howard a fresh peg for media coverage that publicly humiliates Anthony, exposes the minor child, and causes Anthony to incur five-and six-figure legal fees.”

The documents further claimed that Ayesha Howard is allegedly giving an “extortionate nature” to the entire campaign, which has also been confirmed publicly.

Anthony Edwards furthermore alleged that many media outlets reported that his ex-girlfriend “demanded several preconditions” to put an end to their ongoing child support battle.

What Were Ayesha Howard’s Conditions From Her Ex-Boyfriend?

Ayesha Howard demanded a public apology along with a financial support for life from Anthony Edwards.

These conditions included a lump-sum payment of $500,000, a public apology posted on the sportsman’s social media handles, and financial support for life.

The apology demanded by Howard reportedly includes the four-time NBA all-star publicly retracting all “defamatory and false statements” made by her during their conflict and “affirming her integrity and her role as a mother of their daughter.”

The documents, however, claim that “these are the demands of a litigant using the court process as a pressure mechanism to extort a private settlement that no court would order.”

Adding to the allegations against the social media influencer, the documents claimed, “The filings, the media campaign, the parallel proceedings in two states, the refusal to comply with discovery, and the refusal to mediate are all designed to make the cost of defending so high that Anthony will pay whatever Ayesha demands to make it stop.”

Pointing out another alleged loophole, Anthony Edwards said that Ayesha Howard does not reside in California, where she filed for the child support. He also claimed that she might have never lived in the state.

Howard, on the other hand, is asking for the court to seal requests in the case to avoid prejudice and to protect her one-year-old daughter, Aubri, “who cannot consent to the public dissemination of her full name, her health details, and the intimate circumstances of her birth.”
