A Former Job Applicant Says Her Interview With Alex Cooper's Husband Was 'Painful' and 'Crazy' — and the Details Back That Up

Kaplan, who runs his wife's media production company Unwell, has come under scrutiny after the organization witnessed a mass staff turnover which is said to be due to an alleged toxic work environment. Some employees have reportedly raised complaints about working conditions at the company.

On the other hand, Alex has also been in the news for her ugly spat with influencer Alix Earle because of which some of her naysayers also started giving her the “mean girl” tag. Some of the other podcasters and influencers from their industry have also started picking sides.

According to Page Six, a former job applicant who goes by the name of Courtney Babbin took to her TikTok account to share her harrowing experience of being interviewed by Matt Kaplan.

Babbin recalled going for a job interview at the couple’s company for the position of Director of Events about a year and a half ago. She called it a “painful, crazy interview” for something that was supposed to be her dream job but turned out to be a nightmare.

Courtney Babbin noted that all prior rounds of the interview process had gone smoothly until she reached the final stage, which was the solo interview with Kaplan. She was informed that the interview with him was important so that they could relate well with each other since she would work with him closely and not with Alex Cooper.

In the TikTok video, Babbins was heard saying, “I walk up to meet him, and immediately it was weird. He looked me up and down, like my hair, my makeup, my outfit. I was in a blazer and pants, and it was weird.”

The former applicant then recalled being sent to his massive office, where she alleged that Kaplan appeared to deliberately position himself in a seat elevated above hers, directing her to a low couch, which was extremely uncomfortable for her since she was on her heels.

In contrast, he chose to sit on a chair that was “levels above” her. Babbin said Kaplan did not make eye contact during the interview and instead focused on a mirror behind her, fixing his hair repeatedly.

Babbin also found it strange that Matt Kaplan asked her questions about her upbringing, where she went to college, instead of what she studied, which would have been more relevant to the role that she was interviewing for.

She described them to be “first date” questions. However, the applicant said she found the question about her parents' occupations particularly inappropriate.

Courtney Babbins recalled also calling him out for the same where she said, “I pushed back on answering what my parents do for a living, like what relevance does that have to this interview?” Then she remembered Kaplan badmouthing almost all the employees of Unwell except for his wife.

Recalling the same, she revealed, “He said, ‘Everyone who works here is a stupid nepo baby. They are rich. They don’t care. They have no work ethic. They are lazy.” Inevitably she attempted to file a complaint with the human resources department but was unsuccessful.

In conclusion, the former Unwell job applicant also admitted that she wondered whether Alex Cooper was aware about her husband’s behavior with the employees and the interviewees.
