Along with the many responsibilities, royal life also comes with its fair share of perks.

Take, for instance, Prince William and Princess Kate, who were appointed as Grantors of Royal Warrants of Appointment in July 2025.

Now, the question in everybody's mind seems to be this -- will this new role for the Prince and Princess of Wales impact Meghan Markle's business in any way?

What Being Grantors of Royal Warrants of Appointment Actually Means

A spokesperson for King Charles III announced the decision about William and Kate’s appointment as grantors last July.

The new role allows the couple to grant their preferred companies permission to use the royal seal on their product packaging and advertising.

At the time of the announcement, Prince William’s private secretary Ian Patrick said, “Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to be able to recognize and celebrate British industry, creativity and skills through the granting of Warrants.”

This move also marks a significant milestone in the couple’s expanding roles as future king and queen consort, enabling them to focus on initiatives that reflect their values and priorities.

Earlier, only King Charles and Queen Camilla had the authority to grant these permissions.

To qualify to receive a warrant, a company must have supplied the royal household for at least five of the last seven years.

William and Kate’s new role as grantors will commence in the spring of 2026 and unfold in two stages.

According to Town & Country magazine, in the first stage, existing warrant holders from Charles or Camilla may apply to also hold one from the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The second phase will allow new companies to apply.

According to the Royal Warrant Holders Association, applications will be open to any eligible company during May and June 2026.

Will Meghan Markle Receive a Royal Warrant for Her Business?

While William and Kate have new responsibilities on their plate, thus solidifying their importance in the royal family, Prince Harry and Markle continue to maintain a distance, following their exit from royal duties in 2020.

In recent times, Markle has attempted to reinvent herself as an entrepreneur with her gourmet product line and brand, As Ever, which she launched in March 2025.

The year before, she shared limited-edition strawberry jam jars with a select group of celebrities, including Chrissy Teigen and Kris Jenner.

Given their strained relationship, it is highly unlikely that Kate and William will endorse Markle’s brand with the royal warrant.

Moreover, a brand or company must provide its goods and services to the royal family for at least 5 years.

As a result, Markle’s brand will probably miss out on Kate and William’s royal endorsement.

Royal warrants are considered a prestigious mark of recognition.

A warrant holder may display the royal arms of the granting royal on their products, packaging, advertising, premises and vehicles, according to Town & Country magazine.

These warrants are usually granted for five years before they are reviewed.
