Wild Boar Smashes Through Glass Door Into Florida Home
It's not every day that police officers in Florida are called to bust up a boarglury, yet here we are.
Earlier this year, the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about an unusual intruder: a wild boar who had violently smashed its way into a local family's home through a glass door, leaving behind a trail of destruction (a.k.a. glass shards everywhere and a torn screen).
The Sheriff's Office shared pretty unbelievable footage of the interaction on social media, along with a humorous explanation of what exactly went down.

A wild boar stood defiantly in the Florida home it broke into.
"𝐁𝐎𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒: 𝐁𝐎𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐃," police titled their story time.
"This Lehigh Acres animal had a 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿-𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 interaction with our deputies!" they quipped on Facebook. "Yesterday, we responded to a 𝗻𝗼𝘁-𝘀𝗼-𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 burglary on 3rd Street E. Deputies learned the 'suspect' went 𝗵𝗼𝗴-𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱, busting through a sliding glass door. We were able to remove the boar from the home, sending him 𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀 - the woods!"
Lee County Sheriff's Office shared bodycam footage of the encounter with a wild boar.
The officer wearing the bodycam estimated the boar to weigh some 300 pounds.
In the video, the boar can be seen defiantly running around the home's yard and standing inside the home itself, running away from the authorities. It even charges at the deputy, making a pretty violent-sounding noise against the bodycam.
The footage also shows officers trying and failing to lasso the beast into a rope, which we have to say has a taste of slapstick to it.
The last couple of seconds have an officer saying off-camera, "It's going east into the woods," i.e. they had a runaway boar on their hands.

The intruder charged the officer wearing the bodycam.
The video had 85k views on Facebook at time of writing. The comment section was disabled, so we can only assume it got pretty spicy up in there.

An officer attempted to lasso the boar with a rope.
Just like "Florida man" has come to represent shorthand for mischief, so should "Florida animal" — with many kooky stories involving critters coming out of the Southeastern state.
In just the last few weeks, Floridians have witnessed some truly incredible scenes.
In Stuart, Fla., an alligator had to be physically removed from the tiki bar whose happy hour it had crashed.
In St. Lucie County, an intrepid African spurred tortoise escaped from its home and was missing for days before members of the Sheriff's Office were finally able to reunite the pet with its family.
And in Orange County, an injured black bear took refuge in the safety of a tree, from which the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was able to rescue it.
