Whoopi Goldberg's Weight Loss Journey Has a Visible Side Effect — and Her "Ozempic Neck" Is Getting All the Attention

Whoopi Goldberg went through a major physical transformation recently and never shied away from confessing that she resorted to weight loss medications for the same. However, she has shown signs of a common side effect associated with rapid weight loss.

The actress-comedian admitted in March 2024 that she was using the GLP-1 Mounjaro to help herself lose weight faster after she had reached 300 pounds. The after effects of the same could be seen especially around her neck when her “before and after” pictures are compared.

In a 2022 post, Goldberg shared a photo of herself at a nail salon. The actress was wearing a deep yellow loose sweatshirt.

The picture from before her weight loss has her cheeks looking fuller, while her neck appears to be less hollow and tighter. In recent photos from 2026, Goldberg appears noticeably changed, and it is her neck that commands attention.

She attended the premiere of her animated series, Kevin, on April 16, 2026, in New York City, where she went for a breezy, fun ensemble. Goldberg went for a white shirt with baggy floral pants and a light blue cat-printed jacket.

Not only did Goldberg look much leaner, but her slimmer neck also drew attention. Along with a much slimmer face, her “Ozempic neck” was on full display during the event.

The loose skin highlights the interior structure of the neck, which is a very common trait of drastic weight loss. However, this does not come as a surprise since many Hollywood celebrities have displayed visible signs of rapid weight loss, which has been receiving a mixed reaction from social media users.

However, her “Ozempic neck” might not be the only aftermath that she has been experiencing after the Mounjaro consumption. According to The Sun, stylist Tavia Sharp revealed that Goldberg was finding it difficult to select clothing that suited her transformed body. Sharp added, “Since she’s been on the weight loss drug, Whoopi is in between sizes and wants to feel comfortable.”

The wardrobe challenges reportedly contributed to a widely discussed outfit choice at the 1993 Oscars. However, The View star’s neck appearing to be drastically slim might not be only because of his drastic physical transformation.

According to the Center for Cosmetic Surgery, factors including "loss of skin elasticity with age" and "pre-existing volume loss that becomes more visible after weight loss" can also contribute to the appearance.

The center lists potential remedies including topical retinoids and collagen-supporting dietary changes.

The Color Purple actress was also vocal about her Mounjaro consumption in The View. She said, “I will tell you, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I made Till. I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff, and one of the things that’s helped me drop the weight is Mounjaro. That’s what I use.”
