Ahead of the midterm elections, The View’s hosts have decided to call out Usha Vance’s marriage to JD Vance, labeling it as a power-hungry move. The panel discussed the Second Lady’s statement after a recent interview, where she talked about her life after marrying a conservative.
The TV hosts talked about Usha Vance’s shift from being a pro-Democrat to a pro-Republican. They felt that she had abandoned her beliefs for power and reprimanded her for the hypocrisy that she exhibits on a daily basis.
The View’s Hosts Launch a Scathing Attack Against Usha Vance
In the most recent episode of ABC’s The View, the hosts, Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar, decided to slam Usha Vance over her husband’s remarks about her conversion from Hinduism to Christianity. The topic surfaced when Hostin recalled JD Vance’s comments from 2025 during a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi.
The host recalled that he had talked about his wife’s religion, stating that she is a Hindu, but he hopes that eventually, she will be influenced by the Christian values and the Christian gospel. She read his statement, “‘I hope eventually my wife comes to see it that way.'"
Usha Vance marriage with JD Vance is crticized
Behar added that the Second Lady’s parents are Hindu and that she has an Indian heritage. She had also mentioned that their “Hindu faith is what made them great parents. She doesn't want to separate from that.” The host continued, “I think when your spouse is saying, 'I want you to be a different religion,' I don't know. That's something that is just very far apart to me.”
Hostin joined in saying that the United States is in an existential crisis, and a couple’s values should align during troubled times like this. However, she felt that some things are just dealbreakers. Her co-host mentioned the “weird” political scenario, and how people would abandon their integrity for “power and money.”
Sunny Hostin asked her co-host if Usha Vance also went back on her principles and integrity so that she could enjoy the power with her husband? Behar answered, “Of course! She's addicted to the power, also the perks.” Hostin labeled her a hypocrite because Usha Vance is a “smart woman” and mentioned her academic background, and was a lawyer.
Usha Vance Feels “Comfortable” About her Current Political Beliefs
During an exclusive interview with NBC News, Usha Vance shared that she feels “very comfortable” that no one has ever doubted her beliefs, putting her in a tough spot. She continued that since her marriage to JD Vance in 2014, she has not been forced to change, as she remains the same person.
She remarked, “I feel very comfortable in that world. I don't feel like I have to walk around pretending anything of any sort.” Vance claimed that her thoughts are unbiased and taken well by both parties, but sometimes her views are “way more idiosyncratic.”
She continued that being the Second Lady has not made her a celebrity, as people often notice living an ordinary life, and “for the most part,” she can do things like going grocery shopping or visiting the library without being recognized.
Likewise, during The View’s episode, Whoopi Goldberg defended her saying that Vance’s life is her choice, as we all are the masters of how we choose to live. She suggested that they are all trying their best to live, and she will not express anger at “any woman” who is trying to live her life on their own terms.
