During a recent White House event, Trump shared an awkward autocorrect mishap involving his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, revealing that her name occasionally changes to another woman’s name while texting.

The confession quickly sent the internet into a frenzy, with social media users joking that autocorrect might just be one of the biggest relationship tests in modern marriages.

'I Wrote ‘Melania’, It Would Correct to ‘Melody’'

On Wednesday, May 6, the White House hosted a Military Mother’s Day Event, where Trump and Melania were present.

During the event, the president gave a speech thanking soldier Melody Wolfe.

His stream of thought distracted him as he talked about the time when he made a mistake while texting Melania.

Trump spoke about his phone’s “spell correct and word correct on these crazy machines.”

Donald Trump talks about the issues he has faced due to his phone's autocorrect feature.

Trump said, “Every time I wrote Melania, it would correct to Melody.”

He stated that sometimes when he would be busy working in the Oval Office, he would send messages without checking the text.

“I'd talk about it, and I'd say, 'And Melania is fantastic. And happy Mother's Day, Melania, our great First Lady, Melania.' But it would spell correct and word correct to Melody,” Trump added.

Trump said that he would sometimes not proofread his messages to the first lady, following which Melania would “absolutely decimate” him.

His comments incited laughter from the attendees. The president then mimicked his critics, saying, “He didn't know the name of his wife. He keeps calling her... And I said, 'What the h*** is wrong with this machine?' I didn't know about that little feature.”

The president stated that he got the feature corrected after getting some help. Without building much anticipation, he said that he took the help of the military. Trump said, “Come here, you got to correct this. You're killing me. I took more abuse. She's been called Melody a lot.”

“Anyway, I had to explain it to you this way. I stood up here to explain it to you. I apologize,” he concluded.

‘Everyone Has Been Betrayed By Autocorrect’

While Trump’s autocorrect confession could have triggered another wave of online speculations, the internet took a far lighter route instead.

Social media users began sharing instances from their personal lives and dropped cheeky comments about Trump’s erroneous messages to Melania.

One user user joked, “Sometimes, the biggest 'diplomatic crisis' doesn't come from other countries, but from the autocorrect on your phone.”

Another user wrote, “I had a girlfriend named Kat. Autocorrect changed it to CAT every single time. She got mad until I showed her what the phone was doing.”

A person stated, “Imagine posting a sweet message to your wife in front of millions of people only for autocorrect to randomly introduce a mysterious woman named ‘Melody’ into your marriage.”

Another quipped, “Trump's phone out here tryna start World War Wife with 'Melody' autocorrect wildin harder than the haters!”

Meanwhile, others found the moment surprisingly relatable. “iPhone autocorrect waking up every morning deciding whose marriage to test next,” one comment read.

“Honestly, this is one of the most relatable things Trump has ever said. Everyone has been betrayed by autocorrect,” an individual said.

However, not everyone was convinced by Trump's anecdote. A user wrote, “He does know autocorrect learns from your typing history, right? So…Who t* is Melody???” Another user commented, “Melody is a sneaky link. Nice save, Donald…..”
