President Donald Trump could potentially have his name featured on a prominent American landmark -- New York City’s Penn Station, one of the busiest rail hubs in the United States.

The potential design element follows the federal government's decision to oversee a massive revamp of the city’s landmark.

The reimagination of the nation’s busiest rail hub would feature the president's name near one of its two new entrances.

However, officials emphasize that these plans are not finalized and the inclusion of Trump’s name to the station is not confirmed, as the rebuilding of the station is scheduled to commence in 2027.

Penn Station's renovation plans include Donald Trump's name on the new entrance.

According to a report by the Gothamist, the federal government took over control of the rebuild from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in 2025.

With Amtrak overseeing the project, the Trump administration ordered accelerated infrastructure work at the NYC landmark.

Penn Transformation Partners subsequently submitted their work for review by the administration and Amtrak.

The finalized design would feature a new glass entrance on Eighth Avenue, allowing natural light to enter the train hall.

In the process, the Theater at Madison Square Garden and part of the Garden's facade would be demolished to build the new entrance.

The renderings showed that on the southwest corner of the new Eighth Avenue entrance, plans include a large plaque with “President Donald J. Trump” etched into marble next to a presidential seal.

The report also mentioned that White House officials had previously explored the idea to rename the station to “Trump Station.”

However, the renderings confirmed that the original name of the train hub — which opened in 1910 — would be retained.

Trump has also stated that he did not personally suggest renaming the iconic station.

The station would not only feature Trump’s name at the Eighth Avenue entrance, but would also incorporate classical design elements.

The revamp features motifs reminiscent of other Trump projects, such as golden accents and classical architecture planned for the new White House ballroom.

Additionally, the Eighth Avenue entrance has been updated with a gold clock hanging from the center of the ceiling, gold-colored columns, and brass handrails.

The media outlet obtained detailed plans of the station, which propose raising the ceilings in most sections of the station by 20 feet for the cramped 32nd Street corridor.

'Leaked Drafts and Speculation'

According to the Gothamist report, federal Department of Transportation spokesperson Nate Sizemore said that the department will not comment based on “leaked drafts and speculation.”

“What your readers would be more interested in knowing is that USDOT (U.S. Department of Transportation), AMTRAK, and Penn Transformation Partners look forward to releasing final renderings on a once-in-a-generation project coming to New York very soon,” Sizemore added.

The project has faced criticism from local leaders because the federal government took control of the rebuild.

Moreover, Trump has ordered the work to commence by 2027, but New York officials have criticized the bidding process for a lack of transparency, noting that the details of Amtrak’s request for proposal and the three final bidders’ plans were kept hidden from the public.
