Trump’s Former Ally Drops Wild Claim—Says He Wanted to 'Sabotage' His Daughter’s Relationship With Jared Kushner
President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, has been married to Jared Kushner since 2009. The couple reportedly met in 2007, and after dating for a couple of years, the pair got married. While the duo appear to be a happy couple, a former Trump ally recently recalled a past conversation with the president, who wanted to end his daughter’s relationship with the real-estate developer.
According to Nicki Swift, a former Trump ally and confidante, Chris Christie appeared on C-Span on April 6. He reflected on his time as the US Attorney for New Jersey, when he led the prosecution of Jared Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner, in a high-profile 2004 tax fraud case. He shared that years later, as Ivanka and Jared grew closer, the President had an unexpected reaction to their relationship. He said, “It became clear to Donald Trump that they were going to get married. And he has said this publicly, that he would’ve rather had her marry Tom Brady.”

Christie further remembered Trump strictly disapproving of his daughter tying the knot with Jared. He went on to remember his past conversation with Trump in this regard as he shared, “He was not thrilled ... he asked me to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Do you have anything more on the family, so I can break this up?’”
Notably, the exact timeline of that alleged conversation remains unknown, but they got married in October 2009. In addition, he also heaped praise on the President, suggesting that he has the ability to “charm” everyone around him. He noted, however, that Trump doesn’t have the “patience or the discipline to do it regularly.”

Nonetheless, the claims made by Christie about the MAGA supporter using political influence to interfere in his daughter’s relationship should be viewed cautiously, considering their long-standing feud over the years. Once close allies, their friendship appears to have hit a rough patch after Christie refused to back Trump’s claims that Joe Biden’s 2020 win was fraudulent. Since then, the lawyer-turned-politician has distanced himself from the President.
While appearing on CNN’s The Lead in June 2023, Christie stated that he had misjudged Trump and that he had hoped for him to become a better candidate. He said, “Turns out I was wrong. I couldn't make him a better candidate, and I couldn't make him a better president, and he disappointed me.” On the other hand, there were speculations about trouble in Ivanka and Kushner’s paradise in January 2023. Adding fuel to the fire were the pictures of the President’s daughter while she was seen hanging out with her friends in Miami sans wedding ring.
Chris Christie claims Trump made stuff up about 2020 elections.
According to Radar Online, the reported tension stemmed from issues with Trump. Kushner reportedly gave a choice between marriage and the campaign to Ivanka, which led to tensions in their home. As a result, Ivanka publicly distanced herself from both her father and the political spotlight. Meanwhile, according to People, a source reflecting on their relationship also said, “They weathered a lot over the past eight years, the kind of stuff that would test anyone’s relationship, but they’ve somehow come out stronger.”
