‘I Feel Abandoned’: Devastated MAGA Loyalist Says Trump Betrayed Her

A longtime Trump supporter called into The Megyn Kelly Wrap-Up Show to share her concerns about President Donald Trump.
Janet, a 68-year-old Republican from Long Island, feels abandoned by Trump after years of loyalty to him and his movement. She spoke about the rising cost of living, high property taxes, healthcare costs, and Trump's stance on Iran. This led her to question whether he had forgotten his supporters.
Another former MAGA fan has become disillusioned with the President.
“I feel abandoned,” Janet said during the SiriusXM show, according to Media Matters. She described herself as a “Trump diehard” and mentioned that she defended him even when others in her social circle turned against the MAGA movement.
Like many other loyal supporters who have changed their minds, her main issue is her financial situation. Janet and her husband, who is 69, are still working and see no end in sight. Her husband is a contract electrician, and they built their home in Dix Hills, New York. However, they may need to move due to increasing bills.
Janet revealed that their property taxes have risen to $16,000. She also continues to work part-time to access benefits that help with Medicare costs.
Janet noted that Trump’s movement was backed by working-class people like her family, who work in construction and plumbing. They believed he would prioritize their needs. Now, she feels that promise is missing from her life.
She urged Trump to support the “hardworking construction guys” and others who have stood by him for years, according to the report.
Kelly opens up to Piers Morgan about the political divide surrounding Trump's policies.
The conversation then moved to Iran, where Janet expressed that Trump’s military actions worried her about her son and other young Americans. She opposed the idea of U.S. families getting involved in a conflict she thought was irrelevant to them.
“I didn’t sign up for it,” she said, as reports of a possible military draft surfaced.
The Daily Beast reported that Janet’s frustration reflects the division among some Trump supporters regarding Iran, gas prices, and inflation.
Conservative figures like Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, and Joe Rogan have also criticized Trump’s Iran policy, arguing it goes against the America First message that helped establish his political base, which they previously supported.
Janet did not see herself as someone who casually supported Trump or joined his camp late.
She described herself as a conservative and a registered Republican. She also mentioned that she still loves Trump, making her criticism feel more personal than political.
This viewpoint made her call stand out because Janet was not arguing from a left-leaning perspective.
Instead, she spoke as someone who believed she was part of Trump’s core coalition and now feels that coalition is left to bear greater burdens while the president focuses on other issues.
As previously reported on Morning Honey, Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 37% in a New York Times/Siena poll, with the economy and Iran negatively affecting his standing.
For Janet, it was all about trust. She had hoped Trump would help those who stayed loyal to him. Instead, she feels forgotten or, as she put it, “abandoned.”
