President Donald Trump’s alleged tantrums at the White House have reportedly sparked discussions of the invocation of the 25th Amendment.

The rumor was further fueled following New York Rep. Dan Goldman’s recent post on X.

Goldman shared his opinion in a post on X on Sunday, April 19, in response to the Wall Street Journal's Saturday, April 18, report that alleged that the president was excluded from a White House briefing on a rescue mission for two downed airmen in Iran as aides believed his behavior was disruptive.

New York Rep. Dan Goldman calls for the invocation of the 25th Amendment, in a post on X.

The New York congressman also took a dig at Trump’s mental health -- a topic that is already subjected to various speculations.

Goldman wrote, “The commander-in-chief was excluded from commanding a military operation because he was acting so crazy. Think about that. Trump is not well. We need the 25th amendment before something really bad happens on U.S. soil.”

According to the Wall Street Journal report, White House insiders revealed that Trump was kept out of a briefing on the rescue mission and updated by aides at intervals rather than in real time.

'Now a Matter of National Security'

An X post by MeidasTouch highlighting the Wall Street Journal report about Donald Trump being excluded from a White House briefing on a rescue mission in Iran.

Aides decided to update Trump periodically by phone rather than including him in the briefing room.

Trump allegedly screamed at the aides and expressed frustration about gas prices and drew comparisons to the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

According to the media outlet, Trump said in March 20206, “If you look at what happened with Jimmy Carter... with the helicopters and the hostages, it cost them the election. What a mess.”

His main concern, according to the report, was that a failed rescue mission could damage his presidency.

Goldman's call to invoke the 25th Amendment followed a separate effort by House Democrats introduced last week owing to the president's "erratic behavior” for the past few months.

The "erratic" activities of the president cited in this regard included his recent doomsday threat, his public feud with Pope Leo XIV and the sharing of cryptic AI-generated pictures involving Jesus Christ-like figures, on his Truth Social account.

The bill that was released by House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin established a Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of Office.

Reportedly, the Maryland representative had said in a statement, “Public trust in Donald Trump’s ability to meet the duties of his office has dropped to unprecedented lows as he threatens to destroy entire civilizations, unleashes chaos in the Middle East while violating Congressional war powers, aggressively insults the Pope of the Catholic Church and sends out artistic renderings online likening himself to Jesus Christ.”

Raskin had stressed at the importance of the 25th Amendment, and added that the nation is at a “dangerous precipice, and it is now a matter of national security for Congress to fulfill its responsibilities under the 25th Amendment to protect the American people from an increasingly volatile and unstable situation.”

Trump's second term has been marked by several controversies that have affected his approval ratings, including the conflict with Iran, rising energy costs and his immigration policies.
