'Trump Diehard Loyalists': Megyn Kelly Lashes out at MAGA Base, Claims President's Support Has Shrunk
Political commentator Megyn Kelly recently lashed out at the Make America Great Again (MAGA) campaign.
During an appearance on the Hodgetwins podcast, Kelly said that the MAGA movement has shrunk significantly and that President Donald Trump has betrayed his core supporters by waging a war in Iran despite repeatedly promising during his campaign that he would not do so.
She also spoke about what she claimed is an intense devotion that the MAGA supporters have developed toward the president.
Megyn Kelly Weighs in on Donald Trump Supporters
An X user slams the MAGA campaign.
On Saturday, May 23, Kelly appeared as a guest on the Hodgetwins podcast and was asked whether she was surprised by the loyalty of Trump's supporters.
She replied that she was "not shocked," noting that she had experienced the intensity of that loyalty firsthand during her time as a Fox News anchor.
Kelly said that she finds it "disrespectful" to describe Trump's supporters as cult members but acknowledged the depth of their loyalty.
"It's like in Trump we trust, and he can do no wrong," she said. She said many supporters developed that loyalty because other political figures had let them down, and Trump addressed concerns they felt were being ignored.
Kelly said that she believes the MAGA base has shrunk significantly.
"MAGA is not what it was. MAGA is now this very, very small group of Trump diehard loyalists who have to love Mark Levin," she said, referring to a Truth Social post in which Trump called Levin a "truly Great American Patriot" and his "MAGA friend," giving him the nickname "THE GREAT ONE" for being "Tough, Strong, and Brilliant."
'Yes, We're Pro-War With Iran'
During the same podcast episode, one of the hosts compared the current administration to the George W. Bush era, noting that the same political figures who backed the Iraq War now support Trump's Iran conflict without criticism.
Kelly said many of Trump's supporters voted for him because he repeatedly promised he would not start new wars. "No war with Iran, no Middle East wars, and specifically over and over said Iran," she said, summarizing his campaign position.
She noted that Trump had explicitly said Democrats would lead the country into a war with Iran, a claim she said became a central part of his campaign.
However, Kelly said that some Trump supporters later pivoted to supporting the Iran conflict, saying, "Yes, we're pro-war with Iran. Yes, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon."
She said that position contradicted Trump's own intelligence agencies, which she said indicated Iran was not close to developing a nuclear weapon.
Kelly also said some supporters had shifted their focus away from the Epstein files, and that she and others continue to want the contents of those files made public.
