On Saturday, April 25, multiple shots were fired at the Washington Hilton hotel during the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) dinner, injuring a Secret Service agent.
Notable dignitaries, including President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt were escorted from the venue following the shooting incident.
Following this, a video circulated on the internet, which showed Erika leaving the venue in tears, saying, "I just want to go home."
On Monday, April 27, Erika wrote in a post on X, "Saturday was yet another traumatic example of the evil in our country and the continued rise in political violence."
Erika further said that she would appear on The Charlie Kirk Show on Wednesday, April 29, at 12 p.m. Eastern Time to discuss the events at the dinner.
"Enough is enough," she added.
Erika Kirk shares an X post about the WHCA shooting incident.
Erika faced scrutiny earlier this year after Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said during an episode of the PBD podcast that the former had lost custody of her children.
Luna later clarified on X, writing, "I meant to say the kids lost their dad."
Erika's continued appearances at Turning Point USA events and other public engagements following her husband Charlie's assassination on September 10, 2025, prompted further questions from some critics.
Netizens React to Erika Kirk's X Post
The Turning Point USA CEO's recent X post about the WHCA dinner shooting drew mixed reactions online.
One user wrote, "You REALLY gotta work on the fake crying. I haven't seen you shed a single tear once. Your makeup isn't even SLIGHTLY running for Christ's sake."
Another commented, “Think, I seen this before,” sharing a DVD of a film titled Not Another Staged Event.
One individual opined, “Wow, you managed to make this all about you. Shocking!”
“Be home with your kids. They need you more than we do,” claimed one user. Another stated, “The professional-widow playbook milking personal loss for spotlight and speaking fees grows painfully transparent. Performative grief may sustain the brand, but authentic solace would skip the microphone. The public sees the opportunism. Enough is enough.”
Some users, on the other hand, expressed support. One user wrote, "G*d bless you, Erika. I'm so sorry for how cruelly you've been treated for the last 8 months. I pray that G*d will sustain and encourage you as only He can."
Another added, "I believe this woman is on point. Hope it helps you heal. Stay blessed and strong!"
An individual stated, "Our family will continue to be in my prayers. We love you, Erika."
