Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden, has called out President Donald Trump and his family members in a recent interview, alleging they have used the presidency for financial gain.
This follows public controversy over the Trump family's cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial Inc.
In a recent interview, Hunter expressed serious concerns over Trump allegedly violating his power to make profits. Notably, Hunter further alleged that Trump's family members were also complicit in the same.
‘They Took Loans Against Their Own Token’
Hunter Biden criticizes Donald Trump and his family during a recent interview.
During an interview with MeidasTouch Network, Hunter was asked about his views on "the Trump family profiting off of the presidency."
To this, he replied, "their hypocrisy knows no bounds," adding that it is difficult to keep up with the volume of developments on a daily basis.
Hunter pointed to the case of Justin Sun, an investor in World Liberty Financial who invested more than $10 million in the venture and publicly criticized the company on X, alleging that it had built a mechanism to freeze investor funds without notice and confiscate the property rights of token holders.
The former president's son stated, “How they took loans against their own token,” referencing a CoinDesk report alleging that the Trump family's cryptocurrency venture used 5 billion of its own tokens to borrow $75 million on the platform.
Hunter said he believes “blockchain is the future,” but that the Trump family had exploited the sector and "corrupted it, almost completely."
He also cited other examples of what he described as financial conflicts of interest within the Trump family.
“Whether it’s Don Jr.’s pay-for-play executive club in Georgetown or whether it’s the defense contracts that they’re getting for startup drone companies with Israeli technology or building towers in Saudi Arabia and in the Emirates,” Hunter said, adding that he encounters new examples of the issue on a daily basis.
He jokingly added, “I’ve said to people, I will be surprised when they leave the White House if they have not taken the copper pipes out of the walls.”
White House Spokeswoman Defends Donald Trump
According to a report by The Independent, White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales strongly defended Trump, describing him as one of the most successful business figures in the world.
Wales said that Trump made a sacrifice, setting aside his real estate empire to run for president and “save our great country.”
"The only special interest guiding President Trump is the best interest of the American people," Wales added.
Meanwhile, during the MeidasTouch interview, Hunter was asked whether he supports reforms to the presidential pardon system.
“To be honest, I don’t know whether I can be the one to fairly assess that,” he answered.
“Obviously, I’m completely biased as it relates to what my dad did for me,” Hunter said, adding, “I don’t think that the founders ever imagined Donald Trump. I don’t think they ever imagined the Trump family.”
