Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently marked a four-day visit to Australia. However, the trip has drawn mockery online, with some calling it a "fake tour," according to reports. Critics have assigned the couple several unflattering nicknames

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited children’s hospitals, museums, and service centers, while they also appeared in “paid” speaking events, including the $1,000-a-head InterEdge Summit.

According to RadarOnline, observers have questioned both the tone and the commercial nature of the four-day visit. The report notes that Markle promoted outfits worn at public appearances through the OneOff platform, where she earns a share of the sales.

Personal disclosures made during Melbourne appearances, including Harry's remarks about Diana, have drawn further scrutiny. While speaking at Swinburne University of Technology, he acknowledged that he had bitterness towards the royal life following the death of her mother.

He said, “After my mom died just before my 13th birthday, I was like, ‘I don’t want this job. I don’t want this role wherever this is headed, I don’t like it.’ It killed my mom, and I was very much against it, and I stuck my head in the sand for years and years.”

Nonetheless, Harry remarked his perspective shifted when he began considering how to use his public platform effectively. He said, “Eventually, I realized, ‘Well, hang on, if there was somebody else in this position, how would they be making the most of this platform and this ability and the resources that come with it to make a difference in the world? And also, what would my mom want me to do?' And that really changed my own perspective.”

Meanwhile, a source shared with RadarOnline that Harry’s message is “heavy and deeply personal.” However, it doesn’t quite fit with the commercial side of the trip, and that mismatch is driving the criticism and nicknames.

On the other hand, while speaking at Markle Swinburne University of Technology, Markle pointed out how, for 10 years, she has been “bullied and attacked” online. The Suits alum added, “And I was the most trolled person in the entire world,” adding, “I’m still here.”

Another source told RadarOnline that the emotional tone of the couple's speeches has divided opinion. The source noted that while some view the speeches as "candid and important," particularly around mental health, others feel they focus too heavily on personal narrative, and that the tour’s wider context leaves people questioning its intent and image.

The report states that the couple's personal disclosures have prompted some critics to brand the trip “the Great Sussexes’ misery tour.” Due to its money-making aspect, it is also being dubbed as “Meghan’s business trip,” while the pair is being labeled “the Duke and Duchess of the Dollar.”

The Australian visit comes six years after the couple stepped back from their royal roles in 2020. The decision, widely known as "Mexit," has resurfaced in public discussion following the couple's Australian visit.
