Donald Trump faces backlash over TrumpRx drug price claims.
'That's Another Lie': Netizens Slam Trump's TrumpRx Claims Following Major Drug Rollout Announcement
President Donald Trump's administration expanded its discount prescription drug directory, TrumpRx, on Monday, May 18, adding more than 600 generic medications to the platform through public-private partnerships.
The update introduces widely prescribed medications -- including the cholesterol treatment atorvastatin and the diabetes drug metformin -- to the government-backed portal.
Following the announcement, the official X account of the White House shared a post attributing the policy shift to the current administration.
Some social media users, however, seemed quite skeptical regarding TrumpRx.
Celebrating the administration's latest policy push, the official White House account wrote on X, "Americans went from paying the MOST anywhere in the world for medications to paying the LOWEST drug prices for anybody in any country. All we needed was a new president."
Number of Drugs Available on TrumpRx to Be Increased by 'Nearly Seven Times'
Trump, while making the bold statement, said, "I'm thrilled to announce that we're increasing the number of drugs available on TrumpRx by nearly seven times, adding over 600 affordable generics to the website."
The White House announces TrumpRx's expansion in a post on X.
Trump's latest pitch comes ahead of the midterm elections with an aim to broaden access to affordable healthcare.
According to Reuters, Trump further revealed that the website has been visited over 10 million times and has saved users more than $400 million.
Billionaire Mark Cuban, along with Amazon Pharmacy vice president Tanvi Patel and GoodRx chief revenue officer Aaron Crittenden, was also present at the White House event.
With his online pharmacy Cost Plus Drugs, Cuban offers lower-priced medications directly to customers, providing 559 of the roughly 600 newly listed generic medications.
Mark Cuban Praises TrumpRx Initiative
Despite backing Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential elections, Cuban put political differences aside to praise the TrumpRx drug-pricing initiative.
At the White House event, Trump was questioned by a reporter over Cuban's presence.
When a reporter asked, "It's pretty remarkable seeing you and Mark Cuban up there (as) he endorsed Kamala Harris back in 2024," Trump joked, "Well, he made a mistake!"

Reacting to the same, Cuban said, “Republicans want cheaper drugs, independents want cheaper drugs, Democrats want cheaper drugs, and together I think we're going to do something special.”
Social Media Users React to TrumpRX Initiative
Trump's new initiative, however, received blowback from social media users.
One user wrote, "Healthcare as a whole has only become significantly more expensive under the Trump presidency."
Another quipped, "That's another lie. Because they have to charge lower prices to poorer countries or they wouldn't get any sales there."
Calling it "fake news," one user commented, "This statement is false. One only needs to spend a minute or two reviewing credible sources to see how misleading this is."
"Not true eliquis and Xarelto are 7 times as much as they are in other countries. THAT'S A FACT!" another stressed.
Nevertheless, one X user thanked Cuban for his alliance with Trump, writing, "Thanks @mcuban for teaming up and putting political difference aside. The prices obviously won’t drop overnight, but the near future direction will be very beneficial for Americans."
Another claimed, "Even Cuban knows endorsing Kamala was a massive mistake. Now he’s on the right side helping lower drug prices for Americans."
