'Stay Out': Border Czar Tom Homan’s Explosive Message to Pope Leo XIV Amid Trump Feud
President Donald Trump's Catholic Border Czar, Tom Homan, has called out Pope Leo XIV over his critique of the president.
The ongoing feud between Trump and the pontiff started after the latter's vocal opposition to the president's war rhetoric and military action against Iran.
After accusing the Pope of being "weak on crime," Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself, portrayed as a Jesus Christ-like figure.
The president deleted the post after it sparked heavy backlash online, including from critics and MAGA loyalists.
What Did Tom Homan Say to Pope Leo XIV?
Amid this, Homan was asked about his opinion on Trump's controversial social media post.
According to The Daily Beast, Homan told reporters, "Look, I'm not gonna speak for the President, I'm speaking for myself, a lifelong Catholic. I wish they would stay out of immigration if they don't know what they're talking about."
Leo XIV, who is the first American Pope, has been advocating for peace and humane treatment of immigrants, while reportedly criticizing the Trump administration's approach to deportations. Homan, however, thinks otherwise.
"If they wore my shoes for 40 years and talked to a 9-year-old little girl that got r**ed multiple times, or stood in the back of a trailer, 19 dead aliens at my feet, including a 5-year-old boy that baked to death, if they understood the atrocities that happened on open border, I think they, their opinion would change," Homan told reporters.
Border Czar Tom Homan says the Catholic Church should "stay out of' U.S. politics.
Homan added, "I welcome discussion," but "illegal immigration is not a victimless crime."
The border czar further claimed that Trump has been "saving lives" with his immigration and border policies. "He's saving thousands of lives a year because he has a secure border. Human traffickers are out of business, right?" Homan said.
"The cartels are going bankrupt because of that secure border. I wish that they'd [the Catholic Church] understand that, because if they did, I think they would have a different opinion," he added.
Donald Trump's War of Words With the Pope
Recently, the president and the leader of the Roman Catholic Church have engaged in a tussle of words that grabbed the headlines.
It started as the Pope voiced his critique of the U.S.-Iran war, albeit without taking Trump's name. After Trump shared a Truth Social post last week, threatening Iran's "entire civilization," Leo XIV called his statements "unacceptable."
"There are certainly issues here of international law, but even more than that, it is a moral question for the good of the (world's) people," he said, as he addressed journalists outside his residence in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, according to Reuters.

Then, three American Cardinals -- Joseph Tobin, Robert McElroy and Blase Cupich -- critiqued the Trump administration's policies when they appeared on the April 12 episode of 60 Minutes.
They particularly slammed the escalating U.S. war against Iran.
Following this, Trump posted a lengthy critique of the Pope on Truth Social, claiming he is "WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy."
The president added, "I don't want a Pope who thinks it's OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don't want a Pope who thinks it's terrible that America attacked Venezuela."
Trump also took credit for the pontiff's appointment as Pope.
"He wasn't on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn't in the White House, Leo wouldn't be in the Vatican," he said.
According to CNN, Pope Leo responded to Trump's attack on Monday, April 13, saying that he has "no fear of the Trump administration."
