Former Disney star Sofia Carson is making her Netflix film debut with the upcoming project Purple Hearts. While promoting the new movie, she stopped by the Today show as a guest for the Hoda and Jenna segment with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.
While making her appearance, the star discussed her first solo album, which was released earlier this year, in addition to her new role. Carson wore a red dress with a bow collar and a pair of black platform heels when she showed off her fabulous outfit. She accessorized the look with a simple ring on her index finger.
Kotb and Bush Hager were excited to learn more about the "Sugar" singer's professional journey and recent project. The duo couldn't contain their excitement after asking Carson about a recent behind-the-scenes TikTok from the music video for "Loud." The Descendants star revealed that the gravity-defying moment was filmed on the cliff of a mountain in Malibu, Calif. She dedicated the song to fearless women who are unafraid to use their voices and continue to speak up.
Outside of her work as a singer, her upcoming film brings together her love of both acting and music. Purple Hearts tells the love story of an aspiring singer-songwriter who enters into a marriage of convenience with a United States Marine. But their seemingly "fake" relationship evolves into something deeper after a tragedy changes the trajectory of their lives, and ultimately, their union.
The project is set to be available for streaming on July 29. Until then, we can all recreate the performer's outfit at home for a fraction of the cost.
