The Paramount+ crime drama MobLand -- which is set to release its second season after production and filming wrapped up in March -- has reportedly fired Tom Hardy.

While the actor was initially set to return in the upcoming season, reports now indicate that Hardy won't be back for Season 3.

Paramount+ reportedly opted not to renew Hardy’s contract after the English actor clashed with co-stars and producers on set.

According to reports, actor Helen Mirren and producer Jez Butterworth were the ones especially frustrated with Hardy's on-set behavior and tardiness.

'Tom Is Winding Her Up'

While Hardy played Harry Da Souza, a crime family fixer, across two seasons of MobLand, he was ultimately not chosen for Season 3, after production was wrapped up for Season 2.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, sources revealed that Mirren was particularly frustrated with Hardy.

The Oscar-winning actress, who plays Maeve Harrigan on the show, was allegedly dissatisfied with Hardy's on-set conduct and the way he "swaggers around like a king.”

His demeanor on set left Mirren “increasingly frustrated” with him, making it difficult for her to collaborate with the actor for the crime drama.

“Tom's character is charming. He's the calm one but it is quite the opposite when the cameras stop. Dame Helen is a joy, she is a total pro and she has worked with so many people over the years,” sources told the media outlet.

“But she is getting increasingly frustrated with Tom and his attitude,” the source stated, adding, “He can be late to filming too and that is annoying for Dame Helen, who is extremely professional and disciplined. His tone is something Dame Helen doesn't like, along with his lateness.”

The source went on, “She expects better.. She holds people to a high standard. She's 80. She's been there and seen it all. The behind-the-scenes crew watch it all and believe that she no longer looks as happy working on scenes with him. It has all become quite personal between them.. It feels like Tom is winding her up.”

“There is much chatter that he swaggers around like he's the king. He is very, very arrogant. It's a fantastic show and everyone loves working on it. It's such a shame there is this undertone,” the source further added.

Tom Hardy has reportedly been dropped from 'MobLand.'

Meanwhile, although Hardy allegedly infuriated Mirren, the veteran actress didn't have the power to fire him.

According to Puck News, Hardy seemingly lost his job after repeatedly clashing with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, leading Butterworth to threaten to quit.

“Hardy was apparently late to set a bunch, constantly asked to give notes on scripts, attempted to change dialogue, and expressed his displeasure that a series initially built around him was increasingly becoming an ensemble showcase for Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and other co-stars,” Puck News editor Matthew Belloni stated.

Belloni mentioned that as Hardy frequently came late to set, delaying production, it became a source of contention between him and the producers.

Further, it was also reported that Hardy allegedly asked to give notes on the scripts, and wanted to change dialogues. He also made it known how unhappy he was with the show.

Based on reports, the actor wanted the crime drama to be focused on his character, rather than morphing into an ensemble piece.

Eventually, it was reported that his dissatisfaction with the show led him to be inconsiderate on set and live up to his image of being an unpredictable and sometimes volatile presence at the workplace.
