Savannah Guthrie TODAY exit draws attention amid active case
Kash Patel says tPima County Sheriff's Department waited too long to get the FBI involved.
Savannah Guthrie's early exit from the show comes as law enforcement agencies are still pursuing leads in the case of Nancy Guthrie who disappeared more than three months ago from her home. Savannah recently returned to the show after taking some time off after her mother's disappearance.
The case is still ongoing as the investigation is expanding rather than slowing down as they try to find answers about her disappearance.
In a recent Nancy Guthrie update, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said that it remains "fully committed" to the investigation. They also shared that the DNA testing and video analysis are currently being done, revealing that they are fully investigating the leads they have.
The Pima County sheriff has also said that tips from the public are still being reviewed with the help of the FBI. In fact, it was Kash Patel's comments which has drawn fresh national interest in news around her case.
Kash Patel claims Pima Sheriff County delayed FBI
Pima County Sheriff responds to FBI Director Kash Patel's comments.
Recently, Kash Patel has spoken out about Nancy Guthrie's case, as he criticized local law enforcement for the role they allegedly played in delaying the investigation at the start.
The FBI director spoke to Sean Hannity on his podcast Hang Out with Sean Hannity saying, "The first 48 hours of anyone's disappearance are the most critical." He then continued, "And for four days, we were kept out of the investigation.
Patel shared that when the FBI was allowed access, "We went in and got the Ring doorbell and we said, 'Hey, is anyone talking to Google?'"
He explained how he got critical footage, stating, "I called the leadership at Google and I said, 'Look, we know that there was not a subscription service to capture all of the data..."
"But can we go into the cache? Can we go into the data before it's deleted and see what we can find?' That's why you have that image because the FBI worked with Google to put that image out," Patel said.
Sheriff disputes Patel's claim in Nancy Guthrie investigation
Pima County's sheriff wasted no time and responded to Patel's investigation. Chris Nanos pointed out that "a member of the FBI Task Force was also notified and present at that scene working alongside our personnel" on the night that Guthrie's disappearance was reported.
In the meantime, the disappearance of their mother has taken a toll on the Guthrie family. Although she rarely talks about the case since she has returned to air, Savannah zeroed in on her own suffering and has made heartbreaking statements like like, "I’m so sorry mommy… I’m so sorry if it is me."
