Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are at Odds Over a Birthday Photo of Archie — Sources Say Royal Title Fears Are Making It Worse
After their recent Australia tour was surrounded by loads of scrutiny, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly at odds over whether to share a photo of their son Archie on social media for his upcoming seventh birthday.
The disagreement surfaces as Harry faces scrutiny over his response to a reporter's question about his working royal status. He also earned a lot of backlash after commenting on the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to a report in Sky News, Harry and Markle are said to disagree over how to mark their son Archie's seventh birthday, on May 6, 2026.
Meghan and Harry Clashing over Their Son’s Social Media Privacy
The last post by Meghan Markle for her son, Archie was made on April 3, 2026 where he was seen ice skating.
Markle reportedly wants to mark the occasion by releasing a formal photo of Archie on social media. However, her husband seems to be completely against the idea and wishes to shield their son from the spotlight as much as possible.
A source familiar with the situation told the publication, “This isn’t the first time this conflict has come up – and there are times it’s been Meghan holding Harry back from showing off pictures of their kids. But Meghan thinks it’s the perfect time to release a formal set of pictures of Archie for his birthday – especially now her Archie candle’s been released.”
Prince Harry’s Biggest Concern
Meghan Markle received a lot of flak for releasing As Ever candles in Archie and Lilibet's names.
The insider added that the Duke of Sussex is concerned with several other things apart from his son’s birthday. Harry is said to be extremely worried “about Archie and Lilibet losing their titles” after his wife launched a signature candle line inspired by their children’s names as part of her As Ever brand.
The insider said that “pushing the lines between being royalty and [monetizing] it” could further deepen the conflict of the controversial royals with the Royal Family.
On this, Prince Harry replied, “No. I will always be part of the royal family. I am here working doing the things that I was born to do.” Harry, who stepped back from his senior royal duties alongside Markle in 2020 to attain professional and financial independence added to the question that being born into the Royal Family meant that he would always find a way to serve the people.
Apart from this, Harry also came under the radar during his appearance at the Kyiv Security forum. According to People, he urged Donald Trump to play a more active role in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Harry was heard saying, “The United States has a singular role in this story. Not only because of its power, but because when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons, America was part of the assurance that Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders would be respected. A moment for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations, not out of charity, but out of its own enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”
Trump responded to Harry's remarks when reporters brought them to his attention during a press exchange. He told reporters, "I think I'm speaking for the U.K. more than Prince Harry. But I appreciate his advice."
